The Scrambler House — Restaurant in O’Fallon

This was my first time visiting The Scrambler House and will probably be my last, unfortunately. I ordered online and went in to pick up at the bar. Good thing I did, because it was absolutely packed at 9:45am on a Sunday. However, I stood at the counter for a good 10 minutes before I was acknowledged by anyone who worked at the restaurant. There were at least 4 employees working behind the counter at the time, plus more on the floor who were coming in and out of the bar area. I was completely ignored; no eye contact, no “I’ll be with you momentarily,” nothing. After 10 minutes, a girl finally came up and said she’d be right with me, and handed me the to-go container that had been sitting on the back counter the entire time I’d been standing there. It’s frustrating as a customer, because I had already paid online, so our entire transaction took about 10 seconds from start to finish. I could have already been home; instead, I stood there getting ignored while my food sat and got cold. Also, I paid for buttered toast and did not receive buttered toast. And I also found a small hair in my omelet :/ It’s too bad because aside from the awful service, the food actually tasted really good. All in all, this place is pretty darn good. What some diners should aspire to be. I think this place is what a lot of diners use to be. Simple breakfast with more than fair prices and the food comes out relatively quick. We got a few different omelettes and they were right on par. Toast, coffee was kept topped off, all the fix’ns you would see in a diner.

The staff is awesome. Period. What you expect when dining out. Of the ones I encountered, they rocked.

With the rates being so reasonable this place is a win / win. I read Christys review and quite frankly their review was beyond cynical. If you come here and pay $6-8 don’t expect a Gordan Ramsey burger. Grow up and eat somewhere else. As a matter of fact her negative review is what compelled me to try this in the first place. Easily best breakfast in O'Fallon MO. They always do their best. In other reviews I feel people voice unreasonable expectations. We tried many items from their menu and they are worth the money. Breakfast always tasty, not the stinky fake food you get elsewhere. Deserts and pies are great Sourced meat like bacon and links and patties. Variety...not only breakfast but lunch items too available from morning time. One of the things I like the best is if you tell them what you want for breakfast they could make a nice meal out of it and figure out how to charge you without overcharging you. My overall satisfaction with this place is always at five stars. The picture is for my regular breakfast to go and it never disappoints.
