This place was excellent for a number of reasons.
1.) They have a massive menu to select from and you will have no problem finding something that suit your taste. 2.) They are very fast on bringing it to you so it's super hot and very fresh 3.) The service was on point and prompt
We ended up getting amazing chicken, General tso, chicken basil and triple delight. The sauces were unlike ones I had before as other Chinese places a use the same sauce from the same vendor. Not sure if it's a made there or a different supplier but the quality was higher and for us Americans was loaded with sugar so they were sweater than what you get at a Chinese joint but packed with flavor.
The crab Rangoon we got actually had filling in them and were some of the best I have had in the area and the udon soup I ordered to share with my daughter was good and the noodles were just the way I like them.
The place was well kept and clean which is always appreciated.
One thing to note quality of this grade is going to have a cost with it. This place is not your cheap Chinese joint you are going to be spending at least $25 a person here for dinner if not more. For my family of 4 the bill was $180 with tax and tip. There are some dinners that are $18 each but those are the cheapest they offer some of them were closer to $40 per meal. Basically anything with steak or seafood. Worth it though as you got a lot and the quality is good but don't expect to be getting a Chinese dinner for 8.99 like you do at the Chinese places...
Read moreI have been going to Taipei for over 30 years. It was my go-to Chinese restaurant because their quality and flavor could not be beat. I hate to say this, but it is no longer my favorite. The quality has definitely gone down.
I stopped by this summer and got beef and broccoli, but the beef was just mouthfuls of fat. I literally spit out all the beef. It was gross...so I thought I'll just get chicken from now on. So yesterday I got Kung Pao Chicken for me, and General Tso's Chicken for my friend, and I added an order of egg rolls. We were so disappointed. The egg rolls were burnt, and they were so greasy. The Kung Pao used to be cut into small pieces of chicken, celery, mushrooms, water chestnuts, etc. This time the peanuts were burnt, there were no mushrooms, and the chicken is now in big hunks, and they were so fatty...it was gross! The only thing I recognized was the sauce. The General Tso's Chicken is now batter dipped, so the sauce just made it soft and sloppy. It used to be crisp!
The quality of Taipei was always top notch. It's obvious to me that they are now cutting corners, so the quality is definitely compromised. Please go back to the way you have been preparing food for years, because that is the reason for your success. If Taipei continues like this, they will go out of business....
Read moreI had a chance to dine at Taipei for the first time in years since moving out of Pittsburgh. The experience was just as amazing as it was the first time I ate there back in the 90's. My personal favorite dish has always been the beef and mixed vegetables. I just love the baby corn! I've had the chance to eat at numerous Chinese restaurants around the US, including Chinatown in the Bay area. Virtually nothing compares to what Taipei offers in terms of quality of food. I can't stress this enough, they are one of the best Chinese establishments in the country.
If you have never been to Pittsburgh before, this place is an absolute MUST for Chinese dining and good food in general. If I could freeze the food and have it shipped to me halfway across the country where I live, I would. Stop reading this review and give them...
