Me and my family we extremely excited to try out this new restaurant, however that did not and will not happen anytime in the foreseeable future! My family and I went in to try and celebrate my sister’s birthday. We had a larger party (20 people) and we waited to several hours to NEVER be seated!!!

Back story: My sister initially called and made a reservation, but had to cancel due to numerous mishaps. With encouragement from family, we decided to still go out and celebrate her special day. The first guest arrived at around 5pm and requested seating for 20 (IN HER NAME) she was told it would be a little over an hour. Everyone arrives by 5:30. I come in and mention my sister’s name and the initial 5:30 reservation, not knowing the new reservation was under her friend’s name because she arrived at the restaurant first (5pm) and wanted to get us on the list. The manager, Belsi, then proceeds to say, my sister canceled her reservation (which she did) and that it would be an hour wait for us to be seated. Okay, fine, the place is busy and we expected there to be a wait. 6:30 rolls around and we’re told it would be another 40 minutes; they’re waiting for some larger parties to clear out to seat us. Around 7:15, a few bigger groups left out and there was finally area big enough for us all to sit, but the employees continued to sit smaller groups. At this point, we decided to leave, because the area of people we were being told to wait for some of them just received their food.

The manager, Belsi, is the real problem. The restaurant was busy and clearly should not have been taking walk ins if reservations would not allow it, especially for a bigger party. Belsi mentioned on several occasions, as our wait time continuously got pushed back, that my sister cancelled her reservation. Why is the cancellation relevant when someone else (our friend) walks in and is told we could STILL BE ACCOMMODATED?!!! Not to mention, Belsi was making remarks in Spanish about not really wanting to take us; she didn’t know a member of our party is fluent in Spanish smh. Eventually after sitting for OVER 2 hours, we decided to leave. Belsi’s remarks and actions (continuously not seating our party) were VERY vindictive and none of us will be returning!! As a professional manager, all she simple had to say was, I’m sorry we have too many reservations for the evening and we can’t accommodate your party. Not have us sit for HOURS misleading us to...

This was my first time at this establishment, and I was not impressed at all. I told the waiter that we were there celebrating our birthdays and he told us that they wouldn’t do anything unless we paid an additional $35 for the birthday menu. So we did not get the celebration that we thought we would get coming to this restaurant. The waiter did absolutely nothing no singing nothing. We came to this place because of the celebrations that we always see online. I ordered the guacamole as an appetizer which was good and a pink drink, which was also good. But the fajitas I ordered were beyond lackluster fajitas are supposed to be grilled and come out sizzling. These fajitas were just bland and there was a lot of oil on the bottom of the pan. When I told the waiter that I was not satisfied with these fajitas, he goes to tell me that they have the best chefs in the world, and everybody loves the food basically arguing with me about my dissatisfaction. The meats didn’t even look like they touched a grillI. I chose not to even bother to speak to the manager because I saw the way she was treating the people that were sitting beside us, which was not very good at all such to avoid frustration. I didn’t even eat the majority of the fajitas and didn’t even bother opening the tortillas because the fajitas were so dismal. It was not worth the money I paid. Then the wings that the individual I was with ordered had hair in them, and the waiter looked at us both as if we put hair in the wings. We were absolutely appalled. The waiter was very condescending and argumentative and did not provide good customer service at all. This was such a horrible experience and those fajitas were the worst I’ve ever seen. Based on the experience with the waiter alone, I would not return here nor would I...

I’m very disappointed. I’ve came here about 15 times this year . I’m usually here with my children and a couple of friends just to enjoy the restaurant or even birthday event. I’m usually the one that’s recommending people to come here for their birthday or telling my friends to join me when I come. I love this Restaurant. It was finally my daughter‘s birthday and she was looking forward to coming here Especially because we’ve seen so many times them singing happy birthday and she wanted that special moment. I told my waiter that it was my daughter‘s birthday and he handed me the dessert menu I seen that they had the happy birthday special for $65 with liquor included but because it was me and my two children I don’t need liquor so he told me I can buy the sparkler and dessert it’s gonna be like $25 and singing happy birthday will be included. The waiter never explained to me when I was asking him questions that there’s no in between. he just comes to the table with the sparkler and dessert and my daughter was so hurt. I asked for the manager and all he said was there’s nothing in between it’s $65 but it come with shots. Sir why do I need shots? He said it’s so confidently while I’m sitting with two children 15 and nine years old. You have to think about the in between people, why do I have to buy shots and it’s me and two children y’all have to do better. Why do I have to pay $65 to get sung happy birthday? And I don’t mind paying. We were having a wonderful day for her birthday and that was going to solidify it and honestly ruined The end of our night. Like I said, I’ve came here for other birthdays that I recommended this place and I’ve literally bought just a dessert and they sung...

**Review: Viva La Vida - A Culinary Gem in PGH** Viva La Vida is hands down the best Mexican food I’ve ever had! And trust me, I’ve explored all the "bougie" taco spots in Pittsburgh. From the moment we walked in, the exceptional service was evident. The entire staff made us feel welcome, greeting us with warm smiles and attentive service throughout our meal. My boyfriend and I visited just a week after their Grand Opening, and I can confidently say that the prices reflect the incredible effort and quality put into each dish. For drinks, we opted for the "La Toxica" cocktail and the Prickly Pear Margarita—both were deliciously strong and perfectly sweet. Our meal started with a complimentary order of chips and salsa, which was incredibly fresh. We then indulged in the Tropical Passion Wings—crispy, fall-off-the-bone, and generously sauced to perfection. I chose the Al Pastor tacos with black beans and tomatillo verde salsa, while my boyfriend savored the Surfside Steak & Shrimp burrito, paired with a heavenly avocado salsa that was so good I had to take some home. Even the fries were fried to perfection. The service was impeccable; I never once had to ask for water refills, plate removal, or to have my food boxed up—they were that attentive. The atmosphere is equally impressive, with ample and comfortable seating, stunning hand-painted murals, ambient lighting, and a great music selection. In a word—bougie! I will absolutely be returning many times with my significant other, family, and friends. Viva La Vida is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates top-tier Mexican cuisine and exceptional service.

Atmosphere – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is not your typical Mexican restaurant—and that’s a good thing. Viva La Vida has a bold, modern, and very pink aesthetic that stands out in the best way. The ambiance is dark and cozy, with individual lamps at each table, a stylish full bar, and a clean, well-maintained space, including spotless restrooms. There’s plenty of seating and a trendy vibe that makes it a fun night out spot. Service – ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service was efficient and the food came out quickly, but the staff didn’t feel especially welcoming or engaging. No complaints on performance, just lacking that personal touch that makes a place feel inviting. Food – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had the Chori-Pollo Enchiladas—a flavorful combination of chicken and Mexican chorizo. The presentation was excellent, and the dish came with a side of chips and salsa. The salsa had a great kick and was one of the highlights of the meal. We also ordered the chicken street tacos with a side of rice. The ingredients were fresh and the quality was good. While not the best street tacos we’ve had, they were still enjoyable. To top it off, we had a piña colada, which came garnished with coconut on the rim and a slice of pineapple. It wasn’t too strong—just smooth and refreshing, exactly how I like it. Final Thoughts: Viva La Vida offers a unique and trendy take on Mexican dining. While the service could use a little more warmth, the food and atmosphere make up for it. It’s a place we’d definitely recommend—and we’ll be visiting again.
