Legit Mexican food. I ordered queso with chorizo as an appetizer and it was on my table before I could even open the menu to order my main course. I proceeded to order the chimichanga with beef tips, cheese sauce, rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream - and BOOM it was on my table in minutes. The beef tips had great flavor and were super tender. Finished with "fried" icecream (which really wasn't fried)... just a scoop of vanilla rolled in cornflakes topped with whip cream, honey, and cinnamon (by special request)... I think it typically comes with chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and whip cream. Friendly staff, lightening fast service & food delivery, large portions, and great taste. The only thing that could be improved is the fried icecream (wrapped in dough and fried like it should be). I'd...

Pilo, IS everything a Waiter should be, he provides wonderful service to us every time we go there...!! He's great with our son too!! We would highly recommend this place!! Excellent food and great MARGARITAS!! All of the other waiters are friendly too. It's nice that it's a smaller Restaurant. Never a dull moment, and all the other customers always seem satisfied whenever we've gone there too. We've been to multiple locations of El Maguey's in the Metro, but none in which compare to the service that you get at the one in Oak Grove, so thank you to you guys...!! We will continue to go here for years to come, so...

Their salsa is fresh and has just enough of a kick and it's not basically tomato sauce with some jalapenos. My husband ordered the burrito gordo and it was HUGE! The meat, onions and peppers were well flavored, almost like fajitas and it was so hard to stop picking at it. I got a combination plate with a chile relleno (my standard for quality) and it was cheesy, fluffy and covered in a sauce someone made, not poured from a can. Same for the enchiladas.
I don't know how this little town ended up with such a great Mexican restaurant but it's worth the drive just to...
