I want to like this place because I liked the bar that was previously at this location. All I had was an appetizer so I can't rate the food other than the appetizers that we had, which were fine. Nothing special.
Several things were lamentable on my first visit here.
First, it was a hot day and it was hot inside. If the air conditioner was on, it was not working well.
The window coverings that used to be there when it was The Scrap Yard are no longer there. So on top of being hotter than heck, the sun was blazing in blinding the patrons who were there for karaoke. Some people had sunglasses on. I had to move to a different chair.
I ordered a gin and tonic and specified that I wanted a lime. It seems like these days, not every bar will give you a lime even though it's an integral part of the drink. My gin and tonic came out without a lime so I had to ask for it. My second gin and tonic came out with a lemon slice. I flipped it off the rim of my glass and asked for a lime. My third gin and tonic actually came out with a lime. Miracle.
It took a while for my server to get me my drinks. They were moderately busy so it was understandable. But after I placed my order, it was easily 10 or 15 minutes before I got my drink. My friend actually caught the server's eye and asked her to bring my drink. I'm not sure how long I would have had to wait otherwise.
And my final complaint is that they shorted me on my change. I paid in cash and was due back $14.29 in change. My server only brought me $14. I asked where my 29 cents was. She said, "we round down if it's under 50 cents and we round up if it's over 50 cents." I said, "So somebody whose bill is a little higher than mine is going to get my change but I don't get my change?" I made such a stink about it, she went and got the rest of my change. If I were to round down when paying my bill, would they accept that? I sincerely doubt it. Why should the consumer accept being shorted their change?
To me, a tavern signifies a place that's cozy and dimly lit. After the sun finally wasn't blazing in our eyes, and it was dark outside, as it turns out, they've got an overabundance of flood lights on the ceilings. So a place that should be dimly lit and cozy is lit up like a prison yard. If you like bright lights blazing into your eyes while you're trying to have a cozy drink and sing karaoke, this is the place for you.
It doesn't work...
Read moreMy father and his wife had gone here recently, and told us it was decent food and decent service, and told us we should try it. They did advise us to NOT get the calzone because when they came and got it, it was almost still raw when it came to the table. My husband, and my 1 year old son and myself came for lunch today. The staff was decent and the food came quickly, and it looked really good! My husband got a bacon jam sandwich and enjoyed every bite! I ordered the chicken club sandwich and when it came it had 2 toothpicks in it. I cut the sandwich in half and proceeded to start eating. My second bite of my sandwich I bit onto a broken toothpick about 2 inches long. It cut the inside of my cheek and my gums when I bit down. My waitress was busy with a party that had come in so I chose to speak directly to the owner. He proceeded to take the toothpick from my hand and tell me that the broken toothpick was MY fault and was VERY disrespectful about the whole encounter! Now, I COMPLETELY understand mistakes and I understand stuff happens! However, my husband even tried to cut a toothpick with their knife in the same fashion that the owner blamed me for cutting it myself, and my husband put a LOT of force behind it, even sawing at the toothpick he couldn’t cut it. The owner took my meal off the bill and replaced it with a cheeseburger, which I really appreciate but he had an attitude about everything the entire time and continued to tell me that their “knives are sharp and it was cut (by me) when I cut my sandwich.” I would have DEFINITELY felt the difference between cutting a soft bun and chicken breast versus a hard dense toothpick. Like I said I completely understand mistakes happen, and I would have been completely fine disregarding what happened, but the fact that the owner had such an attitude and continued to tell me it was my fault and he “doesn’t just have broken toothpicks lying around” it really ruined the whole experience! By the time I got my replacement meal, my husband was done eating and our son was very restless, I boxed up my meal and when he brought our check he seemed irritated that I had just boxed up my meal. Needless to say this place has gone SERIOUSLY down hill since the new owner has taken over and they will not be getting any more of my...
Read moreStopped in with my family for a late lunch early dinner. We hadn’t been here before but heard they had decent burgers, which is nearly the only thing my 10 yr old eats these days. We thought it was worth checking out. Always looking to add another option for our family.
They had three tables seated including ours, the entire time we were there. We decided to sit next to the darts. We love an opportunity to enjoy games with our children! Grabbed some quarters and asked my 13 year old to ask the gal at the bar what was needed to check out some darts. This interaction was 10 ft away from me.
She hands my son the darts and states “I’ll give these to you now, but if I catch you throwing them at the wall, I’m taking them back.” One word to describe my reaction is “yikes.”
The 6 of us ordered various things from burgers, Mac and cheese, to chicken fried chicken and included the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. The appetizer was great. However, the proportion of chips they give you does not support the massive amount of dip they include. We asked for extra chips and it was an up charge. They were good, so we felt it was worth it. But even this seems shady business. The amount of chips is a joke. The chicken fried chicken was hardly warm and super bland. I had wished I ordered a burger…until my husband pulled out a hair in his. I know, I know. It happens, but gross…. Mac and cheese was marked with a thumbs up.
All in all, I can’t say that I would ever return, or encourage another to try this establishment. I had hoped for better. I initially thought after the bartender made the out of line comment we should probably just leave. But trucked through and went forth with our order. There were three negative occurrences during my visit, but yet I had remained hopeful.
My $120 could have been spent with a far better...
