Heart Of Gold Diner — Restaurant in Oak Hill

Ive been craving chicken livers and onions & my Gal Pal told me about how good they are at Heart of Gold Diner, in Oak Hill, WV. They are the SPECIAL on Thursday's menu. We made plans to meet up for a late afternoon lunch that Thursday. We could pick wherever we wanted to sit. Plenty of room. (The lunch crowd had just left.) The waitress was very friendly. "Flo" was great! Coffee was hot & tasty & she kept my cup filled. My Gal Pal had something from breakfast menu and I had the Chicken Livers & onions. Didnt take long before we had our meals in front of us. My Gal Pal's breakfast consisted of perfectly scrambled eggs, toast & fried potatoes. (Sorry no pics of hers.) My first bite was heavenly & so was the rest of my meal. Portions were large. I couldnt eat all of my lunch. I had to get a take out container for later. I was fighting hard not to get one of the tantalizing desserts on display but when my GP got hers, I just had to get something to take home for later. I got the peanut butter cake. Looks tasty, eh? Well, it is! So glad to spend time with my Gal Pal and trying out a new place to eat. I look forward to eating there again with Family &...

After doing some long hikes at New River, my friend and I decided to stop by Heart of Gold Diner for some lunch. It's located in a small town and we were pleasantly surprised on the food!

The Food: I had the "Double Mushroom Swiss Bacon Burger" and side of "Chili Cheese Fries". The burger itself was delicious! The burger patty was cooked to my liking and was juicy. The toppings were fresh and the mushroom swiss added the nice touch to the burger. The Chili Cheese Fries were just average though. Just regular fries with some chili and cheese topped over. I wouldn't get it again.

The Service: Service was great! The staff were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. And, our food got out to us in a timely manner!

The Atmosphere: The restaurant was as expected. Spacious and had a timeless feel to the place. Definitely fit the old small town diner aesthetic. There's also plenty of seating available and parking is available on the side or on the street.

Overall, a 5/5! For a small town, this local diner hit the spot for a quick lunch. The food was good and the service as great! If i visit New River again, I'll make a stop...

My wife and I stopped into Heart of Gold in Oakhill for lunch today hoping that it would be at least as good as the former Restaurant Delfinos. THIS PLACE MISSED THE MARK BY A LONG SHOT!!!! (1) The waitress looked like she hated her job... (2) The place is dingy, dirty and looks like nobody cleans it, rather they just wipe down the necessary areas... (3) We sat at the first booth on the right side and low and behold a disgusting ant trap full of ants right next to the dam table... Not behind the blind but in the open... NOT WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE WHILE YOU'RE TRYING TO EAT. (4) Authentic is NOT what this place serves. My wife ordered Chili Fries and a Cheeseburger... The burger was not fresh, and the Chili was from a can with huge beans in it...DISGUSTING!!! The bun looked like it had been thawed. I ordered a Philly cheese steak and onion rings..... The onion rings were alright even though they were warm.... READ BETWEEN THE LINES!! (5) This place is just a Health Department Health Hazard... I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN AND I WILL NOT SUGGEST THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. EXTREMELY...
