UPDATE: (Aug 21st, 2025) After a multi-year wait for this Shoney's location to "reopen", we revisited this morning to give their Breakfast Bar another go. Arrived around 9 a.m. to find a very clean & well organized restaurant with a fully stocked hot & cold food bar. We were promptly greeted/seated & our server arrived moments later to take our beverage orders. As stated above, the hot & cold food bar was fully stocked with fresh items and I wasted no time filling my 1st plate with several savory items. I loved that they offered a dish of home style breakfast potatoes cooked w/peppers & onions. On my 2nd trip I placed some into a bowl, then smothered 'em with gravy & diced sausage pieces. DELISH! We will be returning and fingers crossed that they are able to keep the doors open for years to come. Increased rating to five (5) stars from our last visit a little over 6 1/2 yrs ago.
Arrived just after 9 a.m. on Fri, Jan 25th, 2019, and the restaurant was void of any customers at that time. Several customers did come in during our visit though. We had the Shoney's Breakfast Bar during this visit. Our first trip thru the buffet was semi-disappointing because although the buffet was stocked with lots of choices, several items on the "hot" bar were very cold, not even luke warm. For example the eggs on my first plate actually seemed chilled, and I did not finish them. However we did observe them restocking the buffet with freshly prepared items, so our second pass thru the buffet was much better.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and our server Barbara was no exception. Our drinks never went dry and we were even offered a 'to go' beverage before we left. I've penalized this Shoney's two stars on this visit for not having a freshly stocked buffet when we arrived and for having to wait about 4-5 minutes for someone to come to the register to check us out upon departure. Staff were aware that there were two different parties at the register waiting and even yelled from the back that someone would be right there, but it was still too long to wait for a cashier...
Read moreMy husband and I have went there two different times around 9-9:30 and couldn't eat because they had already started to break down the food bar. At the time my husband worked an hour away from home so he didn't to our house till around 9pm. And we live like 10 minutes from Shoney's , if that. It might just be me but, I feel like If you say your open till 10pm, then serve food until 10pm. If you don't want to serve food that late then put up a simple little sign that says open till 10pm but, we break down our food bar at 9 or 9:30 which ever it may be). Look there, problem solved. Also, the kitchen is very close to where some of the customers sit and some of the wait staff have a bad habit of talking about co-workers and patrons kinda loud. Sorry but, this is...
