The sushi was not good for what I experienced.

THIS IS A RACIST RESTAURANT - PEOPLE OF COLOR (BLACK PEOPLE) DO NOT EAT HERE.

When I arrived I was not asked if I wanted a table I was asked if I was a food delivery person, however, I brushed that off (simple mistake).

The disrespect came when I paid for my bill with my waitress. After I signed my receipt and left my tip on the table. I walked about 3 minutes down the street when ANOTHER waitress told me I did not pay the bill and only left 5 dollars on the table. I told her to look at the receipt in her hand (it was signed - merchant copy) and reminded her that I DID pay bill and that was tip! She felt immediately stupid and gave me my tip back (remember that she wasn't my waitress so she essentially gave my server's tip away).

I know that Oakland has a homeless problem but every black person that comes in your establishment is not poor or trying to run out on the bill.

Next time do your due diligence before accusing someone of something that was entirely false!

ALSO!

I came back the next day to speak to the manager about this incident. I was told by the hostess the manager was not there and she had no idea when he would be. She told me to go to the Sushi Chefs which I did. They then said that they were the managers when I told them that was impossible because the hostess just said they were not there, they looked dumbfounded and eventually gave me the "manager's number".

Once again DO NOT EAT HERE. ...

I have been a long time customer of Judoku until recently. My sister and I did a pick up order (as we usually do) and very quickly realized our fish was severely gone off (crab meat for real crab california roll/mexican roll). We called to ask for a refund (and to warn them to not serve the crab meat since and infect other customers) and they said we had to drop off the sushi order back to the restaurant in order to proceed with refund. At this point we had already dumped all the sushi in the bin (and put it outside in the dumpster since it smelled so bad in the apt) and had to dig it back up to drop it off to them. Once we arrived to the restaurant to drop off the gone off sushi, the worker called the manager to see if he could proceed with refund and asked that I put down my name / number so she could call me back to understand more about the situation before giving us a refund (?!) - clearly we were not eating it and could not understand what more information they needed to refund us given we legitimately dug the sushi out of the dumpster to drop it off back to the restaurant (which was also bizarre to make us do that...).Ultimately we did receive the refund that evening but it was an overall very poor customer experience and we will not be...

The food was top tier. I had the Ootoro Combo and the Rose Roll. The roll was a little on the frigid side, but the toro was very fine and came with a few flavor modifiers like shiso, truffle, and a wasabi sauce. The food was presented very quickly and looked great. So that's the good, and it was good. Now the bad: the service. Not only we're the servers absent upon my entrance, but they just gaped at me once I found them. The chefs behind the counter at the very least greeted me, but the servers offered nary a syllable. A chef told me that the counter was closed, which was strange to say the least, so I was escorted by a mute server to a patio area. I walked out and they just sort of started talking to one another. I asked if I should just sit anywhere and they generally gestured toward the tables. The rest of the meal was like this, though they did ask about the food at one point; I had no problem with the food. And finally, the ugly: the patio smell. The patio smells of a toilet. That's unacceptable. More than the savor of the well-marbled tuna, that smell sticks with me... A disappointing...

Honestly, I wish I could give this place a 5 star because it has so much potential. The menu is phenomenal, the vibes are 10/10, and the staff are all super friendly. The issue is that the rolls themselves don’t always come out properly rolled and fall apart when you try to eat them. This is not always the case but the inconsistency is something I’ve noticed after coming here a handful of times. The service is also very hit or miss and I understand that they can be understaffed at times so that’s not a big deal but just wanted to let y’all know. Despite that, the staff are all super friendly, the vibes are 10/10 (sit outside for sure), and all the sushi is phenomenal. Definitely my go to sushi spot in the east bay. Delicious sushi, meh ramen. Shared the Super California and The Volcano rolls, which were both very good. We also got Tonkatsu ramen, which I found pretty disappointing. The ramen broth had the creamy look, but not taste, and left me searching for flavor. The noodles were also a little stuck together and were okay. The pork was charred, which gave the broth a smokey flavor, but I doubt it was intentional for the dish, and it ended up being a prominent flavor. Also we waited for about 10 min before they took our order, and one of us ordered a pint of Sapporo, and the lady came back with a pitcher 😅. It all worked out. Definitely go for the sushi and not the ramen or attentive service.
