Today, 1/18/22, Tuesday, apx. 4.30pm my 23 year old son and I went to a place we haven't been to in a decade due to the decline of the food. New owner with great experience in our area bought it 3 years ago and BAM the menu is vast, filled with a great variety of current gourmet foods and the old standbys too. Perfect time to get in before the dinner crowd and we were welcomed and attended to by Nicole. Nicole has worked in the restaurant through maybe 3 owners, over 10 years and she was very attentive, unshakeable in answering any and all of our questions and was delightful in helping us make our decisions and provided us with perfect service!
I ordered Yankee bean soup and a greek chicken pannini. The soup was hot, the flavor was buttery, creamy and just delicious! The pannini was prepared with a good amount of feta cheese (yet its very expensive nowadays) and arugula and 2 soft chicken breasts ... delicious and generous, could only eat 1/2 and took home other half for tomorrow.
My son ordered a jumbo beef quesadilla that arrived toasted golden and crispy with lots of beef and fixings on the inside and a really pretty presentation, he loved it and was full, which is remarkable cuz he's a hungry guy at 6'5"tall! He ordered gingerale to drink (most eateries do not have gingerale) and they offer refills at no extra charge, he said the soda was crisp in flavor and had just the right amount of gas to syrup ratio. Fried onion rings were delicious and so were the French fries, they had real potato flavor with just a bit of skins left on them, that really kicked it up a notch.
My 3 cups of coffee just got better with each pour, first one I put in cream and didn't need it in the 2 subsequent cups because the coffee had such a good rich coffee flavor and no acidic negative aftertaste.
The diner is super clean, up to date and delightful as you walk in to a well lit entrance and lots of tvs (on different stations, yeah, because not everybody wants to watch one show) so it gave you a choice of which to catch a glimpse of and read the captions, no volumn, which made it a quiet, yet active and friendly atmosphere.
5 stars and thumbs up
My son will tell his friends to go to the Lenape Valley Diner, at 176 Ramapo Valley Rd, (aka Rt. 202) in Oakland, across the street from big restaurant, Portobello's! The diner is open from morning to 10pm, even during the covid pandemic. They are also renowned for their pancakes and breakfasts and the baking is down on premises!
They offer al fresco dining and you can order online for delivery and pick up too!
This place is a WIN WIN! Check it out, I'm sure you'll agree! We'll be...
Read moreThis was the worst place I’ve ever been to for breakfast. They gave our table away to people who came way after us. We had to wait and then they tried to squeeze 5 people at a 4 person booth in the corner. They then told us to move then told us we can’t move bc another party of 5 was coming. Mind you we didn’t even have enough room to raise our arms to eat the breakfast. The waiter who moved us kept asking in a snide tone are we happy now? Then we waited 45 minutes to order. Waited another 45 minutes for the food to come out. Every order was wrong. Someone got an empty omlet.. it looked like an egg sack. They then tried to give us dessert and charge us over what we ordered. Our items all came out wrong and was missing key components to the breakfast. They also tried to charge extra for eggs that were supposed to come with a meal. When getting the check, they did not adjust the bill at all and were very condescending when speaking with us. After much discussion, they eventually only took one item off the bill. I have beyond disappointed and will never be coming back. The service was horrible and the staff was beyond rude. I can’t believe how horrendous this breakfast was. If no stars were an option i was give them that. I do not advise...
Read moreI am absolutely disgusted in the way my family and I were treated at this diner tonight. We came here ALL THE TIME. However we will never step foot in this nasty establishment ever again. Our waitress was extremely rude and short with us. It was as if we were inconveniencing her the entire time just by our mere presence. On the kids menu, the silver dollar pancakes come with a choice of either 2 strips of sausage or bacon. All I asked was if I can have one strip of bacon and one of sausage for my daughter like she asked but coldly right away was shut down saying no they couldn’t do that. Really? It’s not like I am asking for more strips of meat I thought to myself. It literally comes with two pieces as stated already. I asked if she can ask the manager as we come in all the time as well, to which eyes were rolled. As soon as she came back, I was again told no, that this would be an up charge? Really? I am not adding anything! We decided to leave all together as we felt super uncomfortable at this point. Upon leaving, I decided to speak with a manager myself about the situation and us being very uncomfortable to which he also did nothing about the situation and gave attitude as well. You lost loyal...
