Ruby Q Smoke Fusion — Restaurant in Oakland

So... Where do I start?

Wife and I were actually looking for a different restaurant when we ran into this place. Decided that since we were here we may as well order some food.

Brisket, tender, juicy and just the right amount of bbq sauce. Yes there is some fat but I thought that was the best part. I ordered a pound of it and ate it one sitting.

Gumbo, definitely going to have to come back for more. Reminds me of my childhood. I don't get that kind of cooking anymore.

Bbq beans were on point.

Mac and cheese had the perfect cheese mixture. I love getting the crust it always the best. Nice and crispy. Just with that the portion on that was bigger.

Definitely gotta go back...

Wow. The ribs are absolutely delicious. Perfectly smoked with a BBQ sauce that pairs well and isn't too sweet. We got a bunch of sides and the favorite was the potato salad which has a nice creamy tang that pair perfectly with the sauce. The beans was a miss, tasted too much like molasses and the mac was not as good as the potato salad but added some variety.

The owner is also very nice. We tried to order delivery on the 4th of July and he ran out of ribs. He called and told us he didn't have what we wanted and was willing to send us way more brisket for the same price. We didn't take him up on that and ordered another day but we appreciated...

I am not one to rag on places for doing mediocre BBQ. I typically just make it at home and don't order elsewhere.

That said, we decided to get a few dinners tonight. I've never seen ribs and brisket cooked line they were boiled and then covered in sauce? The sauce wasn't the worst but everything was fall off the bone most with zero texture. Bring your grams who doesn't have teeth? The hot link was great. Not sure what their putting in the coleslaw but it tasted like cancer. I didn't even bring it home for my chickens (I eat the eggs)
