Update: Ray, the manager on duty reached out to DoorDash on my behalf and was able to get me a full refund +5$ towards my next order (which can be such a battle with any of these food delivery services) which I greatly appreciate. We all make mistakes it’s how we handle it once the mistake is made that counts. He also marked me down for a free meal next time I order from them. So while my lunch today was ruined they did do everything they could to go above and beyond to rectify the situation and I’m satisfied with the way they handled it. Good on the management at this location it is hard to find businesses that admit when they’re wrong and do what they can to fix it these days so I’m very grateful. That being said I’ve adjusted my rating accordingly and left my original review below just to tell the story.
Original review: I just had a meal delivered for lunch (big foot chicken fried steak) my favorite meal. Pulling a hair out of my mouth while chewing scrambled eggs made me gag and completely ruined my meal. That was the worst of it but in addition to this the first thing I noticed was they forgot my requested cutlery which kind of defeated the purpose of the delivery as I had to run to the market for utensils so by time I got back to my meal it was cold and cost me an extra 15 mins on my lunch break( on a Sunday which is a double time day ) and the third which really is no big deal by itself but coupled with the other 2 issues I feel warrants mentioning. There was a large piece of lettuce on top of my chicken fried steak (covered in gravy). It was so large I question how you miss it while your pouring gravy over the CFS which tells me they were obviously not paying attention to there job and is the ultimate reason for all the mistakes. You’re serving food for people black bear, do better, pay attention. I threw out probably 80% of my meal because of the hair. Disgusting I’ll keep you posted on how they decide to rectify the situation if they even reach out to me. Otherwise assume...
Read moreVery disappointed with my experience today! The only thing positive I can say is the decorations were cute. We got seated and we were at our table for 25 minutes before we got offered anything to drink. I asked for water and got a class that tasted like dish water soap. I asked for something different and ordered a lemonaide that was warm. We ordered our food and for two of the orders, we ordered sweet potatoe fries. We were there for another 35 minutes and the waiter came back to tell us there is no sweet potatoe fries. So I ordered fruit for one of the orders (made it clear the person who I was ordering this to go order did not eat fries) when they brought the box back it of course had fries. I told them I did not eat garlic fries for my order and my husband said he would eat them. I told them I can not eat garlic and to to please box the garlic fries up for my husband, they were for him..I cant eat garlic! After another 20 minutes, my plate was put in front of me with very fragrant garlic fries with my chicken tenders thrown on top. Big communication issues! I told the waiter I can't eat this and he took the plate and said they would remake. I waited another 15 minutes and the chicken tenders were horrible. They were had thick lard that wasnt cooked. Then another waiter threw the garlic fries in front of me when I asked them to be boxed. I went to pay my bill and told the cashier I was very unhappy with my experience and she laughed and said "that happens." Very disappointed, no one discounted bill...
Read moreThis was a very cozy little restaurant. My family and I are from southern California, and we have seen these dotted around the area. I haven't eaten at a Black Bear Diner until this one. They have a small gift shop located I side to the left. This is cool to occupy kids while waiting for your table. The service was quick. We got our table fairly fast, even for a Sunday morning. The menu is your normal American eatery type menu with breakfast served all day, burgers, etc. They also had a nice selection of fresh baked pies, cookies, and brownies. The food was good, it also came out fairly quickly. The staff all seemed friendly, and eager to help the customers. It is located right next door to city hall of Oakley CA. The area was nice looking and clean. This is a good place for families with kids. I did not get a chance to try their desserts so I can't really comment on them further, other then that they looked delicious. If there is a wait, they do have counter seating that is first come first serve. If you are pressed for time, this is a great option. All in all this was a nice spot to have a meal, my daughter and mom enjoyed it, as well did I. Next time you are hungry and in the area, grab a bite to eat from here and let me k ow how...
