Tortas Ahogadas El Tio — Restaurant in Oakley

Warning: I'm about to romanticize how incredibly delicious their food is.

I'll start with my order, a lovely super burrito with carnitas. Savory, moist pulled pork that was evenly cooked, vibrant green avocado cubes, fluffy/well-seasoned warm rice, flavorful beans, cilantro, melty cheese (and I think a bit of sour cream was in there) wrapped in a soft but firm tortilla. I've never had a more bountiful burrito filled with so much flavor and texture!

My husband ordered Package #2 with carne asada and it did not disappoint - picture delicious cuts of carne asada sandwiched between two fluffy slices of bread, "drowned" in a yummy, unique tomato-based sauce topped with optional veggie toppings. The crispy tacos were so good and they even included an extra amount of carne asada in foil (meant to go on top of the crispy tacos), in addition to four plump limes and two types of red sauce.

I'd include a photo - but we devoured our meals as soon as we got home. This was our first visit, our first order pick-up with them, and we can't wait to go back for more visits in the future! Thank you so much Tortas Ahogadas...

I was overly impressed with the waiters bilingual abilities in getting my somewhat Americanized girl order 100% correct by way of modification and or a little off the normal menu type item. It was It was absolutely delicious perfect to my order, and made extremely fast. This is a really small place with only a handful of tables maybe 9 or 10 and is very deceiving from the outside as to the wholesomeness and kindness going on inside. If anybody is in question or debating between here or maybe somewhere else I definitely recommend you give these nice people running this facility a chance to win you over as well. They were exceptionally courteous and very welcoming no matter what language you may or may not speak. It isn't always the case to feel so welcome in a food environment that is not of your native type. As judgmental as that may sound to some unfortunately it is the reality but not here! BoomerNaut here: my review - Ladies & Gentlemen: this little eatery is huge compliment to the Oakley - Grocery Outlet locale. Nidia (Mexican Sandwich shop Owner) so pleasant. Observed strict adherence to social distancing by owner and customers alike. Why we ate here? Please see Ms. Nidia provided in her own hand the hours contained, attached and below. *Her food, off the hook NorCal authentically superb!! (1rst) the Torta ahogada with sauce, and carnitas the meat. Recommend!!! (2nd) Tres Tacos Plate with Carnitas. I really dig the potatoes & cheese & jalapeno fill at the bottom of those Yellow hard-crunchy shells! The hot sauce very spicy and, cools quickly leaving a good symphony of fresh flavors!
