The Tipsy Skipper — Restaurant in Ocala

The atmosphere is amazing. Subtly lit, eclectic tiki furnishings, chill playlist. The drink menu is charming, rum and gin-based drinks at reasonable prices. If only someone would bring us some of those drinks... We waited ten minutes. No service. We went up to the bar and ordered. We waited 25 more minutes. We watched the one bartender hit on some ladies, we watched two other random people come behind the bar, talk to the bartender and leave. I was against the wall so I stuck my arms in the air and waved them emphatically. He walked back to the ladies. The ladies left, and we thought, finally he will make our drinks. Another bartender came in. So hopeful. Lots of people looking down like they are making drinks. Progress. 20 minutes more of that. No progress. We got up to leave. Bartender gave us a thumbs up as if our drinks were eminent. 10 more minutes. Finally, drinks. They were good but we didn't want to spend so much time to wait for another one. We asked for the bill. Overall it took us one hour to get a drink and add 10 mins for paying the bill.

Digital online based Rum menu does not work and the bar is not lit well enough to see what the bottles say . There is no paper copy . Bartender said they change options and the owner does not keep up . This is just lazy and how bars make $ and give a good experience so why not have a digital version that gets updated once a month and a printed copy as a backup . This was the main reason I stopped in as the sign outside said rum bar . It’s not very relaxing to have to ask the bartender what every bottle says and what the prices are so I spent less than I likely would have and just had an “OK’ cocktail from the menu . The bar is not set up too well and guests are forced to look at a large sink area . The tv was not working either so the atmosphere was not great for anyone going...

Okay. Just left this place. Lived in ocala for over 15 years. Second time being here at this bar. This place let me down a second time. And it will be my last. Went inside, place was packed, which is fine. Bartenders cannot keep up with customers, get more bartenders jesus christ, im not the only customer that walked out, you're loosing money. I waved and a Spanish brown buff guy short hair looked me and just looked away and continued what he was doing without giving me any acknowledgement or telling me to hold on or anything. Very disrespectful towards your customers. Never will I set place in this establishment again. And I've never left a bad review on a place before but this one...
