Wow. Ok let me just start by saying we were looking for a nice place to eat and this was one of the suggestions. The reviews were outstanding and we've been to several Mexican restaurants, but this topped it for me. The waitress was really attentive and genuine, not like let me get a good tip or something, or intrusive...just mindful and prompt. They brought us chips. So much variety on their menu that we had finished the chips (not the salsa yet) she brought us more chips!! The "aguas naturales" tamarindo flavor and orchata were LEGIT!! LIKE the grandma's home-made taste no lie! Then like the rest of the reviews the food felt fresh, warm, tasted so good and reasonably priced (even more savings during lunch time btw). Anyways I'm already thinking of bringing others that I know would very much appreciate the place. The design was Mexican themed of course but not overdone, i didn't use the bathroom but the rest of the place was really really clean, like inviting clean. There's outdoor seating, and for those looking for something negative to say, honestly I told my wife this at some point: are they going to change the song? She hadn't even noticed it kept playing, but at this point I had and since I know español I almost had learned the song lol. At least it was a neat song... But truthfully that last comment was to prove there was nothing wrong w this place & you just need to try it and see for yourself... give it a try! Eventually (without me saying anything) they changed the song lol. Overall very pleasant experience at a hidden gem 💎 soon to become very...
Read moreA few things. No brewed coffee!! If you want a hot cup of water & "make your own instant", then your in luck, especially in 50° weather. A hot tea substitute was also not available. As far as my meal, I would not suggest the chicken Chimichanga. 30+ years of Mexican food restaurants visited, the reasoning for why my meal was the way it was cooked, was unacceptable. While nice in its presentation, using a steak knife to cut through it should have been the first clue of what was next to come. The flavor was there, but the inability to chew the chicken was shocking. I succumbed to eating the tortilla, because simply put, I was hungry! I made mention of my food issue to our waitress, and while I know she has no control over the chef, she did not ask if I wanted to try something else. This is customer service 101. Her efforts in all other areas was good, although she could have mentioned no brewed coffee, before bringing us the glass container of the Insta & a coffee mug of hot water.
At checking out, I did ask that the cost of my meal be cut in half, because let's face it, I did eat the fried tortilla part of it. She checked with whomever & came back only to be told no, as this is how the Chimichanga is made and it's because of the deep-frying of the tortilla. Try again El Sombrero. Try again.
If looking for cup of hot brewed coffee or hot tea, you'll find "instant" gratification with theirs, but bring your own tea bags. At least they have hot water & coffee cups. Steer clear of the Chimichanga, unless you enjoy eating chicken that lacks a...
Read moreNot a great experience. Positives was the waitress was super nice. Or chips and salsa was amazing. It had a great cilantro aftertaste. The quesadilla i ordered, although made wrong, tasted pretty good. Cons for our visit.. we had a party of 6. Shortly after sitting a party of 8 sat down and around 10 min later a party of 12 (best guess) sat. We wait a good while for our food while the other 2 larger tables received their food in a relatively decent time. My order i had asked for no guak and add lettuce to the quesadilla . No lettuce in the quesadilla and guak in my order. My daughters chicken strips were airey and kinda tasteless. My sons pizza was very doughy. My wife's enchiladas was really soggy ( but the chicken inside was really good). The taco was noooot good. Not sure how it was prepared but the ground beef tasted like imitation meat that was too soft? I dunno a better way to explain it. The server, though nice, came maybe three times, first when ordering, then to give us the food, then towards the end for the check and provide to go plates. No in-between asking if we were good. I dunno. Your miles may vary. If you love it there great, don't let this change your mind. But for my experience it was not...
