Stopped in today. We ordered two sundaes. Both were handed out of the drive thru window with spoons in them. I was driving and only have two hands. Instead of asking me if I'd like spoons in my food or if I'd like them covered, they decided. I asked for a lid to be put on one. The girl working the window had a sour look on her face as though I was bothering her. My passenger asked me to get a lid for her sundae also. I did and when there unhappy employee handed it out to me I noticed there was a dead gnat stuck to ice cream on the inside of the lid! I handed her the gross lid back and told her there is a dead fly stuck to it. She said, "I didn't even see that." Huh? You're working in a food establishment and didn't notice the lid YOU handed me had a dead fly stuck to ice cream in it but you didn't notice. Very scary.
She offered another lid. I declined and drove off. The ice cream was melted by the time we got home which was 10 minutes later. It was literally soup. The flavors were off and something tasted "waxy" in the ice cream. How do you mess up ice cream?
This is my second and last visit here. It was bad the first time too. I'll never come back. I'll always worry that someone didn't notice some disgusting insect in the bottom of my cup or cone before they fill it and hand it out to me. No thanks.
As far as the ice cream: it's poor quality. The flavors are not there and they basically just throw it together.
Management/Ownership: Get some nicer, less lazy employees with better attitudes. Turn that soft serve machine down. No one wants ice cream soup. CLEAN that filthy joint up. No one should EVER get anything with a dead insect stuck to it out of your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreExperience was excellent, and portions were huge, so five stars for that. This is home-made ice cream and family-operated, so as others have noted, it is priced accordingly. If you like very sweet ice cream and lots of mix-ins, you will like it here. I was glad to support a family-owned local business, but I rated it three stars, because in my opinion, I found it too sweet and their flavorings tasted somewhat artificial--the vanilla was more like a marshmallow flavor, and the caramel was very one-dimensional. I would say the ice cream flavors were comparable to Country Maid in Richfield, but the mouthfeel and texture was more rich--it tastes like it has a higher butterfat. I prefer a rich and intense dairy-forward style more like Jeni's and Mitchell's, a custard-style like Pav's or an Italian-style Gelato. If you prefer more pure dairy flavor that's less-sweet or custard-style ice cream such as Pav's, you may want to stick with those. However, if you want to fill up with a big waffle cone and like really sweet ice cream, give it a go and support...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePosting for my husband who came home VERY irritated and promising that there would be no future visits to Almost Heaven!
There were a few issues with this trip; 1). He waited 28 minutes at the drive thru line behind only one other vehicle 2). He placed his order and mine (I wanted chocolate soft serve) and paid. 3). Suddenly their chocolate soft serve machine was broken, so he ordered me one scoop of hard chocolate 4). He had to pay an extra dollar for the ice cream that I didn't ask for 5). They handed him 4 ice cream dishes without lids, when he asked for lids he was told, "We don't have any" 6). He then had to wait another 6 minutes for a side of butterscotch sauce
Seems like you're understaffed, undersupplied and need a maintenance man to fix your...
