Sumburger - Western Ave — Restaurant in Ohio

100 Star's!!!! 😃 We love Sumburger! I'm so glad we have 1 on Western Ave. After the original closed we were sad to see it go & thought after many years we'd never have another Sumburger again :( The new location doesn't have the drive-in food service as the old 1 did. But the food is the same. So Yum!! The inside is very nice & clean. Staff is wonderful & very nice everytime. We mostly call ahead & order to pick up at the pickup window. Most the time I have 1 of our dogs with us. They hand out a biscuit everytime. Our dogs love the trip to pick up Sumburger! I have been inside a few times to order as it's conveniently located next to the nail salon I go to. It's order at the counter style & food is delivered to the tables, or they call out a order number/name. At least this was what I experienced when inside. No phones inside for ordering like the original, from what I saw. But definitely more updated, cleaner (as its a fairly new restaurant) I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a good burger joint! They have many other foods on the menu as well. Although, I can never seem to order anything but the Sumburger platter everytime, it's just that good!! All original items the original sumburger had, that I could tell are still on the menu. All their food it Top Notch, high quality & delicious!! I've tried everything on the menu, as I used to work at the Original Sumburger many years ago. Everything I've had was delicious!! I honestly can't say enough good things about this place! If you haven't tried Sumburger, it's a staple & must go-to hamburger joint in Chillicothe!! Revisited Sumburger with a friend who was visiting from out of town. She got a classic Sumburger meal, and she really liked it. This place does not skimp on the quantity of food in their meals! My friend only ate half of her burger and half of her fries. She boxed up her leftovers and enjoyed a second meal from them the following day. Likewise, I ordered the tenderloin sandwich meal and also only consumed half of it during our visit. I am NOT a dainty eater. The portions are very generous!

In my review below of a previous meal at this location four years ago, I mention the creamy coleslaw. Coleslaw is one of those items that is very subjective. While my friend found Sumburger's slaw too sweet for her liking, I am happy to say that I still find it just right. It's one of the reasons that keeps me coming back.

Great Chili Dogs!

Although Sumburger is known, of course, for its namesake Sumburger, try their chili dogs. Not too spicy, not too sweet, the chili sauce is just right! The hotdog itself has a nice snap to it and tastes great on its own.

In addition to the spectacular chili dogs, we also ordered a bacon cheeseburger platter. If you haven't been to Sumburger lately, the crinkle-cut fries and creamy coleslaw that are standard with platter meals are still as delicious as you remember. The burger and the bacon on the bacon cheeseburger were cooked beyond the point of any juiciness, which is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5, but it was still tasty enough for me to devour the entire sandwich.

Our experience was fine until I was about 3 bites away from finishing my burger when I went to take some of the sauce off my burger and seen a FLY 🪰 this was after I picked a hair out of my 3 year Olds fries. The DM was there when I took my food up to her to show her the 🪰 the more I thought about almost eating it the more sick I felt. I had to run to the restroom and ended up in the men's room puking up everything I had just eaten!!!! I threw up so much and so hard my eyes were blood shot my face was red my throat is raw and my back hurt so BAD I was crying all the way home!! (I've had 2 back surgeries and have to have another one, I'm 6 months out of the last surgery) then the DM didn't belive me when I told her I spent $40.19 to eat there with my 3 young boys!!(she was only going to give me $27 back and a free meal coupon) So I had to get the recipt out of the trash and show her my bank account to prove it to her. She was so rude and lacked empathy about this traumatic experience at her restaurant!!!! She did end up giving me back my $$ but the lack of care was appalling!!!! Sumburger used to be by favorite place to eat at in Chillicothe and bc of this experience We will NEVER be back!!! I requested a call from the owner so we will see if that...
