If you're seeking an authentic taste of Oklahoma's rich culinary and cultural heritage, look no further than Eischen's Bar. Nestled in the small town of Okarche, this iconic establishment has been serving up mouthwatering fried chicken and ice-cold beverages since 1896, earning it a well-deserved reputation as one of the state's most beloved treasures.
From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted with warm hospitality and the irresistible aroma of freshly fried chicken. The rustic charm of the interior, complete with weathered wooden floors and vintage decor, instantly transports you to a bygone era, evoking a sense of nostalgia and comfort.
But it's not just the ambiance that makes Eischen's Bar special – it's the food. The star of the show, without a doubt, is their famous fried chicken. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, each bite is a symphony of flavor that leaves you craving more. Paired with a side of tangy pickles and a basket of soft, pillowy rolls, it's a culinary experience that's as satisfying as it is unforgettable.
In addition to their legendary chicken, Eischen's Bar boasts an impressive selection of ice-cold beer and cocktails, making it the perfect spot to unwind with friends after a long day. Whether you prefer a classic domestic brew or a handcrafted cocktail, their friendly and knowledgeable staff will ensure that your glass is never empty.
What truly sets Eischen's Bar apart, however, is the sense of community that permeates every aspect of the experience. Whether you're a regular patron or a first-time visitor, you're made to feel like family from the moment you walk in. The lively atmosphere, filled with laughter and camaraderie, is infectious, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.
My visit to Eischen's Bar was nothing short of exceptional. From the mouthwatering fried chicken to the welcoming atmosphere, it's a true Oklahoma institution that deserves every bit of its stellar reputation. Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to this timeless gem – you won't be...
Read moreWhy they call it a "bar" is beyond me. Sure, they've got a bar in there, but the draw is the fried chicken......really good........some of the best I've ever had. I've been making the drive to Eischen's for many years and have always overlooked the negatives to get the positive (the chicken), but after my experience this past Sat night, I'm done with the place. Eischen's is a run-down, seriously over-crowded fire-trap with inadequate seating, no waiting area, and poor restroom facilities. The self-seating policy has scores of people standing around among the tables waiting for something to open up and making other diners uncomfortable. After a 45 minute wait to get a table for four, a waiter took our order and we waited another hour, A SOLID HOUR, for our food to arrive. It wasn't just us, but everyone had to wait an hour to get their food and I can guaranty - no one was happy about it. Look, I can understand having to wait for a table and can handle eating off a piece of paper instead of a plate, but having to wait so long after I order is intolerable. Was Eischen's not expecting a Saturday evening crowd? Were they understaffed that night? Couldn't they ramp-up production for a busy weekend? They've only been in business for more than 100 years and should know better. I asked a waiter what was taking so long and he said they don't cook the chicken until you order it. Geez, how about cooking a few in advance so you don't get backed up so much? In a nutshell, Eischen's doesn't care about their customers and have become greedy - only thinking about making a buck. You don't have to be there long to see that. After this last visit, I had to ask myself if it was worth the 120 mile round-trip drive, the long wait for a table, having to clean someone else's mess off the table, and the long agonizing wait for my food...........all to get good chicken. Simply put........no, it's not worth it. I'll just go to KFC next time.
Update Oct 2024: Forget Eischen's and go to the Chicken Shack in Arcadia. The chicken is just as good and the wait...
Read moreI heard good things about this place from my family, so we went out to celebrate Mother's Day a little early and picked Eischen's Bar. After being seated, we were given some water and flat Coke/Dr. Pepper/Root Beer and then left alone for about 30 minutes before we had to go and ask a server about our food and other drinks that hadn't been brought yet. When asking the server, we were scoffed at and told to sit back down. I get that places can be busy, but communication with your tables (especially when you're literally right next to them for 30 minutes) should be key to good service. After asking 3 other people for our drinks and some forks, we had to go up to the cash register and ask a 4th person. Then it took another 20 minutes (50 minutes at this point after we ordered) to get our 3 fried chickens, bread, and okra. Again, we were left alone for another 30 minutes, waiting for our server to even acknowledge our table. Upon finishing our food and wrapping it up, 2 members of our party went to the bathroom while the others went up to pay at the register. We were accused of "trying to run out on the bill," despite members of the party trying to pay their tickets, and denied the ability to pay til the others returned from the bathroom. After accusing us of trying to bail on the bill, they then proceeded to try and charge us another tables order instead of our own, and when we argued, we never had some of those items on our bill we were told "we've been here for 100 years, it's not going to get any better." The service here is subpar at best, and they have no idea how to present themselves as servers. The food was generic. Literally, I can get a whole rotisserie chicken at Walmart for $5 and not have to deal with bad service, accused of dining and dashing, and I won't be charged for someone else's food. I don't recommend this place to anyone, but if you brave it, inspect your tickets and don't out up with their...
