I ordered the Orange Chicken Combo, the wifey ordered the Triple Delight. Had to take it back to the hotel. The place was simple, nothing that would just pop right out at you. Almost makes you not want to stick around to eat in, but don't let this hole in the wall fool you. It is truly a hidden gem. We got back to the hotel and after cursing for a few minutes for not finding a fork in my to-go bag I found the white pokey utensil hidden on top of the white hotel sheets. Time to eat. Colbert was on tv doing his usual thing. I took my first bite of orange chicken, then I heard a ((crackle)) noise from the side of the room. I looked to the left....nothing ..(((crackle crackle CRACKLE)))..I lost sight in my right eye. My left eye began to fade. Colbert began to address me personally and smiled and winked and said "Have you screamed yet James?" Suddenly the room had no walls and suddenly argyle and plaid unicorns began singing and dancing around me. My mouth was filled with screams of ecstasy from each and every tastebud. The crackling came from behind my ears. It was a cat esting my fortune cookie. He gazed at me and calmly said "Orange you glad you found this place?" He spat out my fortune as a spitball to my upper lip. I was instantly returned to the hotel room. Covered in sweat, bresthing heavily, orange chicken and pork fried rice nearly gone and an eggroll in my hand. I looked at my wife in disbelief and pure euphoria and she said "can I try yours?" - I stabbed her hand...
Read moreDefinitely do not order the Mapo Tofu - i've never taken one bite of something and got hit with such a strong gag reflex that i had to run to the bathroom to throw up. I am not sure if the minced pork or tofu was sour or old and they tried to drown it in sweet sauce to hide the flavor or something, but it tasted like when you throw up something sweet that's been sitting in your stomach acid. I am not trying to hurt their business since i'm also chinese, and was looking forward to some mapo tofu, but that was a horrible experience.
The chicken and broccoli was ok though, it was very light on the sauce, and my pork fried rice had no pork. I definitely won't be back here, but it looks like other people enjoy this place, so it could've just been one bad...
Read moreThis place was great. Very small seating area, like 4 tables so be prepared to take the food home if its full. They sell bottled and canned drinks, have no cups or ice. We had the happy family, hot and sour soup, and crab rangoons. It was all hot, fresh, and amazing. My only critique is that I usually like my hot and sour soup a little more sour, but the flavor was still great. It had a soft tofu in it and I really liked the texture. other places I've been usually use a firmer tofu, so the difference was good. The staff was very nice and friendly. My husband usually doesn't like crab rangoons and orders them only for me and he ordered 2 more servings to take home with us. 10/10 definitely recommend, would...
