Nice park with a paved walking / jogging path (no bicycles, but dogs are allowed) which indicates the distance you’ve gone. has a nice playground area, lots of shade trees, a picnic shelter. The downside is that there aren’t any cut through paths to get off the path when you’re ready. If you don’t want to go the whole 1.5 miles, you have to cut through the grass. The grounds are well cared for. Great for a morning walk! Park opens at 5 am. Also, includes workout stations along the path. Additionally, there’s a very nice public swimming pool and a YMCA on the grounds too. Overall, the perfect place for the whole family.
Woah.. I’ve got to update this review after seeing this. I can’t believe it. Please see photo included of what is supposed to be a “wheelchair accessible” ramp that doesn’t lead to an kind of paved path. What is wrong with you people? How is this helpful to anyone who relies on a wheelchair / scooter to get around? I know the answer, it is NOT! Shame on you. Seriously, this makes me sick. I don’t even know anyone who relies on a wheelchair, but I’m still aware of the many accessibility issues this city has. It’s...
Read moreWe made our first visit this is weekend for a volleyball tournament. First impression: beautiful, clean and spacious place. I can't speak for the rest of the park as we were in the gym for the tournament, but we had serious issues with the gym being used for the volleyball tournament. The basketball goals interfered with the volleyball court near the net and the back lines. The goals are retractable, but they were not retracted, and the side goals would've interfered with the game overhead if retracted. On more than one occasion either the goal and backboard or the retraction cable overhead interfered with gameplay and cost the team points. The YMCA sports director should be made aware that using this facility for volleyball is not acceptable, and I'm sure many of the parents present for the tournament will be sharing their dissatisfaction with the facility and the rules pertaining to interference from these objects. The attached pictures show how badly the goals interfere with the court boundaries...
Read moreWe went as guests to swim in the pool. $5 per person is great! I called head and found out the price and swim times. We got the about 5 minutes early. The paperwork they required took a full 25 minutes. And I was the only one the two ladies were helping. Already into our swim time, we changed quickly and went into the pool room only to be told they were at max capacity! Apparently the lifeguards are supposed to tell the front deck this but they "must have forgotten". We were told we could wait another 30 minutes until a party left and then maybe we could be admitted. No refund was offered. This was very disappointing to my children who were so excited to swim. We waited and were finally able to swim for 1/2 the time. However, if you can't pass a swim test, you have to stay in the baby section. No floaties are allowed with the "swimmers". This separated my 3 who wanted to play together and made my timid child feel left out. Overall not...
