Read moreI'm really disappointed with this place, this was one of the top restaurants we always visited, we started going to that place since they were only had the half of room they have now and let me told you something, the food was better, way better, than nowadays ,the music was louder, but the food was amazing, specially their pastor tacos ; Anyways those days already passed and look like they lost there essence, food is cold, prices are pricey, one weekend we went and the waitress forgot about us!! she didn't put our order until we stand up to ask about ,not without waiting almost 45 min ,》to find out that the cooker never received our order obviously we left with empty stomach;, that's why we started getting our food to go, but guess what happens?! they started forgetting part of our orders!!, first was an horchata that clearly they charge to our credit card but never gave to us ( By the way it wasn't me who went to pick the food up, was my son and he didn't know that I ordered a horchata, But they should be know, because they took notes ,right), after this the customer service on the phone is been deteriorating, they always put our order wrong, if is not a taco they forgot or they put the wrong meat, but Yesterday was my last order ,im tired, besides the food always cold, and wrong served, they gave us whatever they want, I put my phone order at 6:53 pm, the lady said 25 min, ok, we got there like at 7:20ish ,they didn't put my order!!, we wait until 7:50 , why ?? I checked the receipt that they put in the bagand is because the lady,Maria, never put our order until we got there to ask for our order, unbelievable!!, shame on them!! and on the top of that, our order was awfully wrong, they gave us 2 tacos down, and one of the tacos, it was like onion taco just 9 pieces of tripa, im done ,they do charge a good amount of money but never do a good service or food..Is better to buy on the taco trucks, cheaper...
Terrible Review for El Chilango Mexican Restaurant
If you're in the mood for disappointment served with a side of regret, look no further than El Chilango. This sad excuse for a Mexican restaurant is a masterclass in how not to run a culinary establishment.
Let's start with the ambiance, or lack thereof. Walking into El Chilango feels like stumbling into a poorly decorated garage sale. The walls are adorned with faded posters of sombreros and maracas, while the tables wobble dangerously under the weight of outdated salsa containers. It's like dining in a tacky souvenir shop that time forgot.
Now, onto the food if you can call it that. The chips tasted like they were rescued from the bottom of a bag that expired last Cinco de Mayo. The salsa was a watery concoction that had all the spice and flavor of dishwater. The guacamole was an insult to avocados everywhere – it was as if they mashed up a green crayon and called it guac.
For the main course, I tried their so-called "enchiladas," which arrived lukewarm and smothered in a sauce that resembled melted plastic cheese. The meat inside was tougher than a boot and about as flavorful. I couldn't tell if it was chicken or cardboard they were trying to pass off as poultry.
The service was equally abysmal. The waitstaff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than attending to customers. Trying to get their attention was like playing a game of Mexican restaurant hide-and-seek – except no one ever found me, and I left hungry and unfulfilled.
In conclusion, El Chilango is a culinary disaster. If you have a masochistic streak or a desire to experience the lowest possible standards of Mexican cuisine, then by all means, give it a try. Otherwise, save yourself the disappointment and head to the nearest taco...
Read moreWe spent $72 here and left frustrated and let down.
We arrived at 8:50 PM and didn’t get seated until 9:03. Our drink order was taken at 9:20, drinks came at 9:25, and then our waitress just disappeared—walking around handing out receipts to other tables while completely ignoring ours.
At 9:30, we got chips and placed our order:
8 tacos al pastor 5 tacos al pastor with everything on the side 1 carne asada torta
Salsas were brought at 9:35 and we were offered more chips—which was one of the only things that went smoothly.
The torta arrived at 9:43, and 9 tacos came out at 9:55. and 5 minutes later the last 4 were served. All tacos came out plain, even though only 5 were supposed to be. Either the kitchen wasn’t paying attention or the order was taken carelessly.
At 10:00, we were asked about refills. We said yes. Only my husband’s drink was refilled—mine was ignored completely, even with obvious head gestures and my empty glass clearly on the table.
At 10:12, they cleared the table, brought the check at 10:14, and we left by 10:18.
The food was bland, flavorless, and disappointing—nowhere near the quality we’ve had in the past. Other staff were chewing gum and not paying attention to their tables at all. It felt like no one wanted to be there, and it showed.
I’ll probably give this place one more chance just because it used to be a favorite—but this visit was seriously disappointing. For $72, it should have been...
