Tried it for the first time today though I've driven by for years. The food itself is good to very good (not great if you're familiar with the cuisine). Saying that, I'm adding a star for the laid back atmosphere and unbelievable nice owner/staff. I had the aji de gallina, daughter tried the arroz chaufa (Peruvian Chinese fried rice if you will) and my son limited his foray with their kids plate of roasted chicken drumsticka and French fries with a sliced hot dog weiner on top (?).
I believe we were their last customers of the night and the chicken had been drying out all day. Flavorful but chewy. The rice was very good, and the lime/cilantro sauce they included is one I'll try to replicate at home.
The best part was how relaxed and charming the two women were who served/prepared our meal. As a prior reviewer noted, we also enjoyed hearing one sing while cooking. Both couldn't have been more helpful, though I'd say they put my long forgotten Spanish language skills to the test. We all agreed we'd return, probably earlier in the day and try something new off their menu. A hidden gem on the south...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI tried this place for the first time with a friend and we loved it! I had no idea what to expect going into this, but so glad that I did. From the outside it does not look like much, but don't let that deter you from trying the food. The smells upon walking in are amazing! I am very new to Peruvian food so I know little to nothing about it. I went on my friends suggestion and got the Tacu Tacu and it was so amazing. I loved the combination of flavors. The fried egg on top is not usually something that I do, but it was perfect with the steak and the rice and beans pancake. The fried plantains were so good and the fresh avocado mixed perfectly with it. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other yummy dishes that we smelled going to other tables. The service was great and we did not want for anything. The price was great for what you get. as I stated please do not let the age of the building deter you from trying it. The inside is clean and the food and the service were great. Would recommend and will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis restaurant is a gem hiding away. The food is amazing and played like a high end gourmet restaurant. The flavors meld together to form a symphony on the taste buds as well as performing well as solo acts. We stayed with the mussels appetizer, which was a wonderful treat with a spicy build up of flavor and amazing crispy roasted corn in the pico salsa topping. The slow fried chicken released a savory tender meat within a snappy lightly salted crunch crust. The egg over steak over a rice with plantains and avacado paired so well with an ability to change up the flavor profile with every bite by changing the combinations of items on your fork. Apologies for not using the names of the dishes. Maps is occupied with my review and I did not exit to find the fish names, which is a huge disservice on my part.. Highly recommend trying this Peruvian jewel of...
