We had not been to Jamil's in YEARS, but since we were staying down that way, it was nice to visit an Oklahoma City classic. The food was pretty good, although I think my husband and I both agree the steaks were just alright--this is NOT the place for the best steaks in OKC. The lebanese take on the steakhouse does make it unique, and I love their tabouli and that you get bologna and cabbage rolls with hummus as a starter. (It's worth the extra few bucks to get the warm pita with it!) As far as prices, I ordered the lobster (market price) which I knew would be expensive but my entree alone was $120-- which was shocking considering I thought market price was half that. But I digress...they should go ahead and be transparent with prices, as none are listed on the menu, even at "market price" Now, that said, it was really tasty, but I'm sure I would have been happy with something less extravagant had I known my meal was going to be three times the price of anything else on the menu! :) Bottle of wine was perfect, so I am thankful that our waitress was wise about wine pairing when we asked for a suggestion. Dessert was a layered chocolate cake and while it was EXCELLENT, sometimes less is more, and it definitely did NOT need vanilla ice cream covering up the flavors of all the chocolate types--there was milk chocolate, dark chocolate, ganache, mousse, etc and we had to move the ice cream to see the beautiful layers! When serving this cake with red wine, the ice cream was just in the way and didn't mesh at all with the other flavors. So if you get the decadent chocolate cake (which I HIGHLY recommend!) just ask for no ice cream. All in all, I'm giving 4 stars because it was a lovely evening. Just know you're not getting a modern, top notch service oriented experience, you're getting a classic, retro feel with nostalgia and older decor, staff, and classic menu-- and just go with...
Read moreDon't know where to start ! We stood at the door for 10 minutes before ANYONE even recognized or acknowledged us at all and we thought maybe we came in the wrong entrance. Then we get seated, ten minutes later they bring out appetizers which were a lame attempt at tabbouleh and hummus - BUT NO PITA - not included - so we order it and 15 minutes later it appears. Finally 35 minutes after seating they take our order. Then they bring out a cabbage roll and bologna - or in my opinion THE WORST CABBAGE ROLL EVER, which had some spice that tasted rancid or spoiled, or it was just spoiled, we both took one bite and spit it out. Then come the entree's, chicken teriyaki, or a dry piece of grilled flavorless chicken with teriyaki sauce squirted on with a piece of canned pineapple thrown on top. Looked like something from a low end diner or cafeteria. My center cut rib eye was totally rock hard burned on one end and had an overall flavor of burnt char and was WAY WAY OVERCOOKED. I would have sent EVERYTHING BACK but we had already been there an hour and 20 minutes and didn't have another hour to waste as the COOK not CHEF, has no clue. Had a groupon that had expired and had to argue over the cash value of it, they really have no clue.
OVERALL - BAD SERVICE, TERRIBLE FOOD, TIRED DECOR - need I say more
Wish I had went ANYWHERE but this place and McDonalds is a STEP UP, at least they can prepare their...
Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE. IT'S DISGUSTING. First of all, they try to fill you up on cheap/inexpensive "foreign" "free" appetizers: tabbouleh, fried bologna, hummus, vegetables, cabbage rolls, and crackers. The only appetizers were pita bread and okra. They try to make it sound all exotic (The waiter kept reassuring us that it was good "Lebanese." If i wanted Lebanese food, i would have gone to a Lebanese restaurant!!!). Anyone who knows anything about food history would know that this stuff is basically "poor people's food." Also, these free appetizers tasted horrible: You can find better at Sam's club. Second, they charge OUTRAGEOUS prices for their main courses (a dry steak and a potato with only butter and sour cream). My $10 caesar salad had kraft parmesan (pizza/pasta) cheese (not fresh sliced parmesan) sprinkled on it with 4 croutons. The dressing tasted powdery and awful. Our bill came with an extra $7 "sharing charge." We didn't share anything, so I promptly demanded thay they remove it. This place made McDonald's seem like a michelin star winner. Calling it an American steakhouse was poliely putting lipstickon a pig. In short, this restaurant charges OUTRAGEOUS prices for absolutely the WORST food that I've ever eaten at any restaurant in my...
