My fiancé and I wanted to schedule a tasting for wedding cakes in order to purchase one. I spoke with Minnie on the phone and she was super nice, and asked me to email details about the wedding and what type of cake we want, as well as how many people it would feed. I emailed with this information, including that the wedding would be out of state (it is about 5 hours away), that this is just going to be for my fiancé and me, and that we are desiring a 3-tier wedding cake (we want something traditional). I received an email back from Janet stating the following:
"Unfortunately I don’t feel comfortable packing a cake for travel. You would probably be better to seek someone local to the area you will be staying. They could deliver it for you. Our smallest three tiers feeds 74 and we would have to deliver it to set it up the way you have set in the pictures. I would recommend someone local in that area. You might check with the venue you are getting married in, they usually know local people that could help. Take care, Janet "
Well...I am not sure how a bakery's comfortability on what I will be doing with a cake that I purchase is any of their business or concern, and the liability would certainly be on me. We want to be able to taste the cake before we buy one, and since we do not live in the area where we are getting married, we cannot do that beforehand if we purchase a cake out of state. I gather that maybe they do not have the materials to make a smaller 3-tier cake, or their intention is to sell to a certain price range/customer.
Would not recommend this bakery if you are having an out of state wedding and would like to taste the cake first, or if you cannot get the cake that you have in mind for your wedding. You cannot read tone over email, however the verbiage in the email was also a factor...
Read moreSo I contacted this bakery through email as instructed on their website for a consultation appt before you can even make an appt for a tasting and actually get your cake. I wrote my information and what kind of cake I was looking for and what kind of event. Someone responded to me asking me what the cake would be for (even though I had just explained), how many people it would be feeding, and when I would need it by, and to send inspirational pictures. I responded with all questions answered and pictures of a small shark themed cake for my sons first birthday. This was sent may 19th, and the party wouldn’t be until June 19th. After sending all of the information, I never received another email or call, no communication what so ever. I then wrote another email asking if it would be possible to make this cake for me or not, I received no response. I then wrote back several weeks later as my party had been postponed for august, asking yet again if I could get a consult and if I would be able to purchase a cake through them, no response. I feel like that’s pretty unprofessional to completely ignore a consult request for a business you run? So you don’t want business? I don’t get it. Very very ridiculous and most definitely will not ever be reaching out again for any cake requests in the future. So fair warning, maybe show up for a consult instead of following their prompts to be contacted...
Read moreMultiple issues with my order, overall extremely disappointing. 1st issue: invoice was not sent to me when order was placed. 2nd:The cake was much smaller than expected, never having ordered a cake like this we did not know how small a 6" was and were told over the phone it feeds 10-15 and upon pick up and questioning the size the same person we spoke with on the phone corrected themself it only feeds 10-12 3rd: The cake was meant to be minecraft creeper themed but with the invoice not being sent to me in my email asking for it I only specified minecraft themed so it ended up being a brick sided cake with some grass and only 2 tnt cubes on top. No creeper, the only thing minecraft about it was the TNT. We barely had enough cake for only the kids,if we wouldn't have only had 1 hour until the party we wouldn't have paid for it or taken it but we had no other option. In conclusion it was a hassle and a waste of 80$ for a cake the size you would get 1 y/o party for their smash cake. There's a 5 star review on her w/ an image for an awesome creeper minecraft cake, wish I could've...
