I visited this restaurant with a disabled veteran friend and we were actually very excited to try this place for the first time. We had made plans all week to visit for food and drinks. Upon arriving at 11:20 am there were staff visible that looked our way but never made eye contact and no one greeted us or said hello. There wasn’t a lot of people and there were a lot of open seats but we were not in a rush so we just waited patiently. People came in behind us and got tired of waiting for anyone to acknowledge them so they left. We stood there at the front for maybe 7 minutes until a server came over, he didn’t say hi or introduce himself he just said “come this way.” He started to seat us in the tight area where it’s booth wall seats with the stand alone chair. I asked politely could we please have a booth? For context I asked this because my friend as I mentioned before is handicapped and the seating he wanted to put us in would be painfully uncomfortable for her. But upon asking this the server’s demeanor significantly worsened because he then gave a big sigh and pointed at a booth for us to sit in. He put down our menus and walked away quickly then came back rather quickly and asked, “do you know what you wanna drink?” He had came back so fast I hadn’t gotten a chance to find the drinks on the menu so I asked if they had espresso martinis? He quickly replied “it’s on the menu” in a very rude tone, so we ordered espresso martinis. When he walked away my friend and I quickly agreed we would rather not eat food if it comes with a mean attitude so we agreed we would just get our drinks then go eat somewhere else. When the server came back to take a food order from us we told him we just were there for drinks and that we would take the bill. He brought over the checkout kiosk and as I was paying with my card he watched me as I paid and says “you didn’t press tip,” him not realizing I had cash in my hand for the tip. So instead I pressed the 18% tip button for the 2 drinks. We cashed out at 11:30am. Just from looking at the receipt finally got the server’s name, Ty. 20 minutes pass and we noticed everyone after us receiving drinks from the bar. After calling Ty over we tell him we never received our drinks. Unapologetically Ty replied, “she making them now” while quickly walking away. A female bartender says to us, “I’m sorry, yall drinks are coming your ticket somehow fell in the trash.” She was more hospitable. Got the drinks at 11:55am. The drinks were very well made and delicious so as we were leaving I left the bartender a $20 cash tip. I may try this restaurant again because I believe in 2nd chances but this is my...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of experiencing the new breakfast/brunch menu at this restaurant, and I must say, it was quite an enjoyable experience. My friends and I had a great time soaking in the lively atmosphere, although we did encounter a slight hiccup with the seating arrangement. Unfortunately, we were positioned in an area where the chilly air seemed to have a personal vendetta against us. Nevertheless, as the restaurant filled up, the energy levels soared, and it became a bit challenging to carry on a conversation amidst the lively buzz.
Now, let's talk about the food. The menu may be on the smaller side, but it offers a delightful blend of traditional breakfast dishes with a touch of southern flair. One standout item for me was the "collard greens" – absolutely delicious! As someone who typically gravitates towards chicken and waffles at any breakfast joint, I was a tad disappointed to discover that waffles were unavailable that day. However, they kindly substituted it with French toast. The chicken was definitely a winner – moist, bursting with flavor, and cooked to perfection. The French toast, though not overly thick, boasted a pleasant balance of egginess, although I missed the powdered sugar touch. On the other hand, my friends opted for the pancakes and another brave soul ventured into the realm of chop and sunny-side-up eggs, and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy their choices.
To accompany my meal, I ordered a cappuccino, which turned out to be a satisfying choice. The rich, velvety texture and robust flavor provided the perfect caffeine kick to start the day.
All in all, I genuinely liked the restaurant. However, I must admit that driving 28 minutes for chicken and waffles priced at $18.00 left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. While the dish was good, it didn't quite reach the "wow" factor I had hoped for. Nonetheless, the overall experience was fun and insightful, and I would definitely consider returning to explore more of their menu offerings.
In conclusion, the restaurant had a vibrant ambiance, flavorful dishes with a hint of southern influence, and a few minor hiccups that could be improved upon. If you're in the mood for a lively brunch experience, it's worth a visit, but perhaps consider exploring other menu options to find that truly exceptional dish that will make the drive even...
Read moreI have high hopes for this place—the food was delicious and the cocktails were fantastic, but the overall experience was a little chaotic.
Came in on Saturday, with a group of 5, at 10 am. After putting our name on the wait list, we were told that it would be a 45 minute wait. We were totally fine with that; just chilled out on the patio and ordered drinks to pass the time.
Around 11 am, we were told that our table was ready, and made our way inside. The host was really sweet and sat us at a table near the front of the restaurant. After about 15-20 minutes of not being greeted by a server, I finally decided to grab the attention of one who was walking by—Nicole. I told her that we hadn't been greeted yet, and that it was no problem, but I just wanted to let someone know so that they could send our server over.
She said that she'd go ahead and take care of us (I'm not sure if that's because we were sitting in her section and she'd just overlooked us, or if she was helping out another server), but we placed our order with her, and patiently waited for our food—which took about 40 minutes. None of us were fazed by this; we all understood that this was during opening week, so there's bound to be a few hiccups. I'm also a server, and have opened up a couple different restaurants, so I understand how hectic it can be.
The food was delicious—I had the fried pork chops and my mom had the shrimp and grits. The other women really seemed to enjoy their meals as well. After we were all finished up, we waited another good 15 minutes for Nicole to return to our table. As she was walking by, I asked her if she wouldn't mind dropping off our tabs. Her response was, "Look, I'm really busy, so you're gonna have to wait a second." Huh? Lol. We'd been nothing but patient with her, didn't complain not once throughout the entire thing.
It was pretty off putting. She was visibly irritated and behaved as if we were being a nuisance for wanting our checks after we'd been at the restaurant since 10 am, and it was now approaching 1 pm.
So, again, I completely understand that they've just opened, and there's bound to be some kinks that need ironed out, but I must admit I was very disappointed with the service we received. Maybe I'll just wait a couple of months before returning again, because place has a lot...
