Small, no-frills Coffee Shop with a fun theme in the non-descript, grungy looking strip mall across 151st street from Garmin in Olathe.
I needed a place to sit and work while my car was in the shop at Burnett, and I found this on Google. I loved the old and short-lived coffee shop (Coffee Talk) that opened before COVID in this location, and was thrilled to see something replace it. This part of Olathe is a Coffee desert, so it's no wonder people keep trying to open one up in this spot.
Anyways, the Hazelnut Latte I had off the seasonal menu was incredible. Beans are sourced from a local roaster in Grandview, which I really appreciate. Sweet Tee's also supports a small, local roaster, so it's good to have another community focused Coffee place in Olathe. I got a Cheese Danish that was delightful as well.
I met and got to chat with the co-owner Michael (opened with his wife), a huge comic fan (hence the name, branding). He was super nice, obviously a competent Barista, and very creative. He came up with an off-menu Smoothie for a couple other guests, which I then had to order myself, and it was one of the best smoothies I have had (Order "Pink Slime that tastes like Mango" and see if he remembers it).
Prices across the board are pretty standard for specialty coffee shops: Not dirt cheap, but not predatory like Messenger's various locations (Black Dog, Filling Station, etc.).
I highly recommend stopping in and spreading the word so these guys can...
Read moreThis place was pretty awesome. Little, locally owned business with awesome owner and staff who not only give off community vibes but cater to nerds. Great atmosphere. Small, quiet, relaxing, (comfy couch) and you can even play games (they have some of mini consoles with preloaded games) while you chill or read a few comic books. Or just talk with other nerds who worked/visited there (or don't and just hand out quietly). As for the products, top notch. Lots of customization with the drinks, I had 2 drinks (and tried my wife's) and they were all definitely enough to come back on my next mourning commute, and the muffin was great. If you wanna support local businesses who deserve it and maybe you're a nerd like me, it's worth going here when you just wanna chill in good company with a nice drink and a muffin or something....
Read moreVisited Comic Coffeehouse with my sister. Right off the bat Mike welcomes you in, the vibe is relaxed, vibrant colors and comics strung on the wall. The menu has familiar drinks like lattes, macchiatos and smoothies. And then there’s Coffee Lemonade…which is exactly that and let me tell you, we we’re pleasantly surprised. If you don’t like the taste of black coffee this may not be the drink for you. We enjoyed it very much. I had an iced chai while we sat a chatted with Mike. To go I had a lavender lemonade. There was also this awesome almond pastry. A cross between a croissant and gooey butter cake. I ate it before I even thought of taking a pic. Definitely coming back. I got my first stamp on a loyalty card, come in...
