Been here 3 times and 2/3 experiences were very poor/bizarre so feel inclined to leave this review.
First time husband and I visited was a Friday night sometime back in July/mid summer. Band was awesome! We only went for drinks after work in this occasion. We sat outside, I walked up to the outside bar to order our first round from a guy around our age (mid 30s?). $10 for a shot of Jose Gold, shot of Jameson, and two cans of Fiddlehead IPAs (16 oz). Next round I ordered, same items same price. Third round my husband went up to order the two Fiddleheads, no liquor, and it was still $10? So I approached the bar and asked the bartender why we were paying the same price for only the beer and no shots? He responded with “It’s bartender math” which makes no sense to me because I’m a bartender myself and can’t relate to this, which I relayed to him and he agreed to give us the shots “on him” but still charged us $10 for 2 beers.
Second occasion was excellent, we sat inside on a Wednesday for a late lunch and ordered a few rounds of Broken Heel drafts, got the boneless wing bites and slices of the hot honey pepperoni pizza. Our server was pleasant, efficient, and the experience was inexpensive and consistently priced which we appreciated. She had multiple tables and still gave fair and accurate service.
Our third and unfortunately final outing to this restaurant was just as bizarre and uncomfortable as the first. My husband and I went in on a Wednesday for a late lunch. We walked in to the restaurant and our first impression was it smelled like a bathroom/backed up sewer. Sat down at a high top and waited for our server (Jeane), she came over. We wanted a light beer for this outing but no good options for light on draft so we tried to order Miller Lite bottles but they only had the 12 oz cans which was fine with us. Ordered the wing bites and onion rings to start, then tried to order 2 burgers for our main courses. We wanted to take a half tray of hot honey pepperoni to go after hanging out. We are two busy parents with full time demanding jobs in the restaurant industry and two young kids at home, so today was our only day off and with a baby sitter to give us some free time. Jeane responded with the question, are you sure you want burgers? You don’t want pizza? So this was odd enough in itself and after we confirmed we indeed wanted the burgers we ordered she went back to the kitchen. After a few minutes she came back to let us know they couldn’t find any burgers at all so we just asked for our appetizers, which were tasty, and the check. Upon receiving the check I noticed we had been charged $5.20 for each 12 oz miller lite can. $10.40 for 2 small CANS of miller lite. Our new trail draft was cheaper on our last visit which makes zero sense. Again I am in this industry a long time so I’m highly aware of pricing of draft vs bottled vs canned beer. An employee (not our server) came out of the kitchen and we spoke to him about the situation. He was equally as surprised about the price of the miller lite and helped us ask our server about the situation. She responded by saying that’s the only miller lite button in the system and that’s all she knows.
All in all, while their food is tasty their service staff is wacky and make up their own prices. Will not be returning even though we are old...
Read moreService was the WORST/SLOWEST that I have ever experienced anywhere (in 50 years of adulthood). The waitress was the most inattentive that I have ever seen.
Reservations for 10 (+ 3 very young children) on Sat. night. We arrived shortly ~7:00pm & were directed outside, to walk along the side of the building on a decline to a separate entrance (2 people were noticeably disabled & this was difficult for them - also, most were dressed in formal clerical garb). It was very noisy & one other group in this room was extremely loud. Seating was at one long table with hard wooden bench seats on one side and hard metal chairs on the other side.
We waited a VERY long time for orders to even be taken. Beverages & bread were brought to the table and then the waitress effectively disappeared. Each of the 2 carafes of water held only enough for 2-1/2 glasses and we had to constantly ask for more water.
After more than an hour, I finally flagged down the waitress, saying that my friend was gluten-intolerant & couldn't eat bread, that she hadn't eaten since 8:00am, to please bring her salad. We were hoping that this would prod her to bring all of the salads, but she served only the one.
Shortly after that, the young kids' parents spoke up & a small pizza was brought out so that the kids could eat (this was already WAY after their bedtimes). We were not served our salads til after 8:30. When our salad plates were cleared, we asked the waitress about the delay & were told that "it was very busy." We pressed for an ETA about our entrees & she brushed us off.
At 8:55pm, those of us at one end of the table agreed that, if we were still not served, we would simply walk out in 5 min. At 9:00pm, we were literally getting out of our seats when the first few entrees were brought out, so we stayed.
My friend had ordered chicken ($19) and, while I continued to await my salmon ($25), she gave me some of her chicken (I returned the favor when my meal was served). After all of the entrees were served and half-finished, the waitress returned with the side-order veggies (broccoli & sliced potatoes - nothing else on the menu was available), each on a small bread plate. My salmon was tasty, but not outstanding and was a VERY small portion.
All together (one person treated us), including drinks + tax - but not including tip (which NONE was deserved, but I'm sure was paid) - the bill was probably ~$300+.
With this absolutely terrible service, I wouldn't go back there if we were...
Read moreHaving heard good things about Old Forge pizza, and having tried some local examples of such, we thought it a wise idea to try what we were told is one of the best pizza joints in Old Forge, PA.
It was not a wise decision.
We walked into Revello's, and I personally made eye contact with not one, not two, but three servers, not one of which told us to seat ourselves, or wait to be seated. We finally had to ask what the protocol is in order to be seated, and were greeted with a "Sit anywhere".
We took a seat at a booth and seven minutes later a server arrived at our table. Now from my viewpoint, Revello's is not a large establishment, and for staff to take more than three minutes to, at the very least, take your drink order is an embarrassment.
We ordered three cuts of red and three cuts of white. About 30 minutes later, our pizza arrived at the table, minus any plates (other than what the pizza was on) nor silverware of any kind.
The red had a nice sauce but every cut was cold, and I'm not talking room temperature cold. The cheese had congealed by the time it arrived in front of us, so once you took an initial bite, you pretty much stripped the remaining cut of any cheese.
The white was misleading. We were expecting single white cuts, not double white, but double white is what was presented before us. Very difficult to eat as we had no silverware (and were never offered silverware) and the cheese was literally gushing out of the sides of the double white and plummeting to the plate below. It was basically like eating a grilled cheese sandwich with waaaay too much cheese inside.
In the hour that we were there, the server checked back with us once.
I don't know about other pizza shops in Old Forge, as I am not planning on returning anytime soon but I will say that the experience at Revello's made me never want to eat Old Forge-style pizza again, and I'll most definitely never be returning to Revello's as a customer.
The good news is that Revello's gets two stars because I liked their sauce. Other than...
