Fielder's Choice — Restaurant in Old Orchard Beach

Took the family to DQ and my husband accidentally forgot my order. Instead of looping back around, we just swung by this place on our way back to the hotel. All I wanted was a vanilla cone with chocolate sprinkles. At DQ, my family got medium cones so when asked what size I wanted here, I had just said medium. As we are sitting in the drive thru waiting, multiple children working (including the ones who took my order) are making my ice cream, talking rudely about my order. “I would never order that” “Even I wouldn’t get that” “OMG that’s so much” and multiple other RUDE comments regarding the size of my order. Now as this is going on, I had not realized it was me they were making fun of. Once they made a scene about my ice cream nearly toppling over the cone and saying they can’t add my sprinkles to it. I said “wait is that mine? That is very big” and then I realized the multiple inappropriate comments said in front of me, were about me. Anyways, it was a very unpleasant experience. Instead of making fun of the customer, maybe let them know just how ridiculously big your sizes are. Making someone feel uncomfortable for their food choice is never okay, but it’s even worse when they have no knowledge of what they were ordering. As someone who ran restaurants for 12 years, I would recommend letting customers know what the sizes are before ridiculing and making fun of them. I also understand they were children but if they are going to work in customer service, someone should teach them how to be kind and atleast somewhat professional. We did drive through and they are cash-only. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are huge. I got a large cup of ice cream for just $8, and it was more than enough for me. The ice cream is made fresh daily, and it's some of the best I've ever had. The flavors are all unique and delicious, and they offer a wide variety to choose from. I highly recommend the Dugout Floor flavor. It's a delicious combination of chocolate, peanut butter, and I like to get peanut butter ice cream with it. The children both got baby vanillas, and they were still so large that they're still eating them three days later. Even my wife, who doesn't like ice cream, ate hers in two days! The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is relaxed and casual. It's the perfect place to stop for a sweet treat on a hot summer day. I've been to Fielder's Choice a few times and always like it. Be prepared for a lot of ice cream and a price to match it. I love the variety of flavors and toppings. Its also a cash only place, there is an ATM on site.My only minor complaint for my last visit was that the unavailable flavors were not listed. I have children so it sometimes takes a little while to decide what everyone wants, majority of the time we all want something with soft serve chocolate! When we got to the window and I started to order a chocolate shake the young man said they were out of soft serve chocolate, black raspberry, and something else. We ended up going to a nearby DQ because we all wanted soft serve chocolate and once you crave it you can't find something else to replace it lol. Just wish there had been a list of unavailable flavors we could have seen before getting up to the window. Other then that we've never had any issues...
