Called on May 19th to make a reservation for 4 at 530 on Saturday, May 28th. Spoke with Sam. Upon arriving at 520 on the 28th, we were advised that they didn't have our reservation on the books. They were quick to accommodate, while we waited at the bar. Within 10 minutes, we were being seated.
Our server, Annie, was fantastic. It was only her first week and you couldn't even tell! She was very attentive to refills, and checking in on us. We ordered appetizers of calamari and firecracker shrimp, which were both delicious and fresh! The appetizers were delivered to the table within 10 minutes of ordering. Almost as soon as we were done appetizers, the entrees were being served. We ordered lobster mac & cheese, baked stuffed haddock, fried haddock and fried clams. All the meals were delicious! Very impressed! The serving sizes are massive and you'll end up taking home a to go container (most likely). My meal, the baked stuff haddock was cooked superbly, flaky and tasted amazing. The seafood stuffing was fantastic. The mashed potatoes were hot and really good! I chose a side Cesar salad which was large for $5 and couldn't finish my whole meal.
The decor was nautical and beautiful. Windows all around illuminate the Penobscot River. Boards show where your seafood is sourced, almost all locally (Maine) and within the region. The open kitchen concept was cool, and you could tell the kitchen was cohesive and worked as a team. There were many open tables when we arrived (high tops) and still seating available when we left at 6:40. Very impressive. Regardless of not having the reservation, they were quick to accommodate and seat us. The food was impeccable.
Will absolutely return to sit outside on the deck in better weather. It was torrential rain when we arrived for 5:30.
Was too engrossed in conversing when the food arrived, so no pictures this trip. You definitely get what you pay for, delicious sea food! Our check for two was approximately $80... you will pay based on the market price for certain items. ie. clams were $30.
A wonderful option for freshly sourced seafood on the banks of the Penobscot River. Service, food and atmosphere...
Read moreI don’t give 5 stars often. Actually, I don’t even review often. Tonight, however, I have to say that I have never felt more heard or valued than what Angela made my husband and I feel! She was great! She wasn’t even our server BTW, maybe a hostess? She sat us. It was extremely busy and our actual server came the actual second we were seated and I needed a moment to look at the menu. He never came back. Again, extremely busy and totally understandable. But….along comes Angela to check on us and asked if we had put in our order, as she could see that we had no drinks. We claimed NO. She got someone to get us drinks and went completely over and beyond to accommodate a special order with the chef for our entree. We had a dish months previously that left us wanting it again and between her and the chef they made that happen. We had to wait a bit extra because of the request, but again…Angela made sure we had drinks, so we were good with the delay. The food was so good, the drinks were excellent, and I don’t know if this establishment realizes what a gem they have with Angela or their incredibly accommodating chef, but I am here to shout it the rafters. I have a 20+ year career in Customer Service and these 2 rewrote that definition tonight! We will be back!...
Read moreI am breastfeeding my infant whom has a dairy allergy. So, I ordered tacos and asked for no cheese. The tacos came with cheese so I requested new tacos be made without cheese. “New” tacos came back to me and I was told these didn’t have cheese. I took a few bites before realizing there was still melted cheese on the inside of my taco’s tortillas. The kitchen had obviously scrapped some of the cheese of my original tacos but had not made new ones. A manager then came over. She did comp my meal and offered to make new tacos, but did not appear very concerned or empathetic. This could have been a very dangerous situation to someone with severe food allergies. And I’m hoping my poor infant doesn’t react to the cheese that I did accidentally eat before realizing what the kitchen had done. New tacos were brought out for me, but these unfortunately had a great deal more spice than my previous tacos. They were completely black/covered with seasoning and had so much seasoning that they were inedible. It appeared a whole bottle of seasoning was dumped on my tacos. So, after three attempts, I didn’t get to eat my meal and the manger never checked in with me again to see how my new tacos were. Very dangerous and...
