I am an avid breakfast diner reviewer, why? Who knows. Maybe it's because I love good coffee, pancakes and waffles and overall breakfast-y food. I visited this diner for the first time today and was immediately excited when we pulled up and the parking area was nearly full. That's ALWAYS a good sign! The diner is clean, well maintained and the servers were friendly, kind and helpful. While the diner was packed, the energy was upbeat and fun and even with many people talking, it wasn't overly loud or anything like that. I noted that this is veteran owned business and I always love supporting veteran owned businesses as my husband is Active Duty. My husband ordered the Omelette with Duke's chili and I opted for the chicken fried steak. We also chose to split a Belgian waffle because, well... we wanted to, okay? The food came to our table in literal minutes after ordering, everything was delicious and full of flavor. Great southern country gravy for the biscuit and gravy that came as a side with our meals. The Dukes chili is delicious! My chicken fried steak was flavorful and crispy under the gravy. Breakfast potatoes that we opted to add onion and peppers to were crispy and delicious, I might have liked more peppers and onions personally, but there was plenty for the flavor. Neither my husband or myself could entirely finish our plates which is WILD because we can EAT! So, serving sizes are wonderful! My eggs were actually over medium and not too cooked nor too, wiggly? What's that term for the whites when they still wiggle? You know what I'm talking about right?! The coffee was good, not the BEST coffee in the world but miles better than many restaurants I've been to, and even better, the servers always made sure we had fresh hot coffee refills as fast as we could drink! Highly recommend this diner for breakfast and can't wait to go back and try lunch...
Read moreMy family and I went to Duke's yesterday morning, so 10/26/17. I had oral surgery a week ago, I was dying to eat actual food, not liquid for the 1st time since surgery!! I knew what I wanted upon sitting down and ordering coffee, the Chanel Special with 2 easy over eggs. Our waitress was very sweet, very friendly and very attentive. We were there about an hour and I never had to get her attention to refill my coffee...in fact 🤔, I don't think it ever got below 1/2 cup 😁 My husband ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast, our son ordered the breakfast burrito, all of our plates looked so appetizing. We all left happy, full, and decided we were going to make our visits here more frequent! Absolutely the best biscuits and gravy... just a hint, if you love salsa as do I, their salsa is fantastic on...
Read moreI personally love this place never had any problems foods always been good but today I asked for the breakfast special (bacon, hash browns, eggs, and toast) pretty simple well it took an hour for me to get my food which I wasn't complaining because they were pretty packed but when they brought my food out the bacon was burnt hard as a rock the toast was pretty well scorched on the edges the eggs were over easy, pretty runny I asked for over hard, when I brought this up to the lady that was my waitress these were her words "oh you're one of those squabish people that can't eat their eggs runny" I felt really disrespected I don't think I'll be coming into dukes...
