Jimmy's Egg — Restaurant in Omaha

I placed a pickup order for the wrong location on N 80th street. When I showed up to 132nd street to pick it up, they obviously had no record of the order. I turned around and walked out when the waitress informed because typically that just means you are SOL. The cost of food, combined with the breakfast rush almost guarantees that a restaurant will not don’t honor your order when that mistake is made (not my first time making a similar mistake).

As I was walking towards my car, Spencer caught me and said, “I’m not making you drive all the way out to 80th street. We’re going to take care of you.”

Honestly, it’s been a rough week. My company did a major layoff, and I experienced the death of a family member. So when this happened, I was close to tears.

Spencer was so kind and customer focused. It was such a bright spot in my day. It just felt so nice that he clearly cares, even though the restaurant was insanely busy at the time. They made my order and had me out of there within 8 minutes!

I tried to pay something and he wouldn’t let me. There just isn’t enough people like this young man in the world today. I hope Jimmy’s Egg appreciates Spencer and his dedication to customers. I stopped in the other day and had brunch with my bestie. We had a great experience. Food is always delicious, hot and fresh and comes out faster than you would think for being busy as can be on a Sunday. I have my go to’s here but one I never get bored of is the Chicken Fried Steak with the perfectly crispy Hash browns topped with grilled onions and cheese, 2 egg’s scrambled and their Buttermilk Pancakes (not pictured because I ate them first). I could write on and on about their Pancakes however this Chicken fried steak is always perfectly crispy, never soggy and greasy and oh is it tender! It’s also able to rewarmed the second day without losing its crispiness which is pretty impressive. I definitely will be back again, also our server was such a sweetheart when my friend and I arrived earlier than the rest of our party and allowed us to be seated while she kept an eye out for the rest of our group. I’ve been a big fan of Jimmy’s Egg for years. The food is usually fresh, hearty, and served with a smile. It’s been my go-to for a comforting breakfast or brunch, and I’ve always recommended it to friends and family.

However, on a recent visit, I brought some out-of-town relatives who had never been before, excited to share the experience. Unfortunately, this visit took a sharp turn for the worse. After eating, every single one of us came down with tummy troubles few hours. It was a rough and unexpected ending to what should’ve been a nice family outing.

I’m not sure what went wrong this time, but I hope it was an isolated incident. Still, it was disappointing and pretty embarrassing considering I had vouched for the place. I really hope management looks into it and tightens up on quality control, because Jimmy’s Egg can be great—just not...
