I really didnāt want to leave a review like this, because I love the food here but I feel like other people need to be aware of the real costs of spending their money at this establishment. I have worked in customer service for almost two decades and never in my life have I dealt with such rude and shady management. I want to be clear that the regular staff here are always wonderful and very kind and I hope customers tip them extra well if they must deal with whoever the nasty person my boyfriend and I encountered this past weekend as a manager. On Saturday, my boyfriend and I really wanted to get 3 boxes of boneless chicken and 2 of the bokki to enjoy over the weekend. We went to the restaurantās website and made our order online and selected the delivery option since our car is getting work done on it. We spent over $100 for this order. When it was delivered only two boxes of the chicken were delivered with the 2 bokki, which was disappointing but not the end of the world. We called the restaurant, and they offered to either make us the missing food and we can pick it up, or a refund for the food we never received. We chose the refund because we had no ability to drive there. We thought that it was settled, everything was fine and everyone was pleasant! Then, about 5 minutes later we noticed my boyfriend had missed a call and another call incoming from the same number. He answered the phone and a woman started talking in a very curt tone telling him they were not going to give us our refund and that the Doordash driver who THEY enlisted to deliver our food āhad stolen our foodā and we would need to contact them instead. The woman on the line was aggressive from the start and was clearly expecting a strong response (which she succeeded in) because it was clear she was ready for a fight! While on the phone she confirmed that all of our food was put into one bag and that she āreviewed the camerasā. Well, if that were true, she would have seen that the two boxes of chicken and the 2 containers of bokki is all that could fit in one bag! We would have needed a second bag to fit the 3rd box of chicken! And letās say that the error was with the doordasher and not the restaurant, why are YOU being rude to US when no one was rude to you? At that point we were pretty offended, so my boyfriend yelled back at the woman and hung up. The fact that this person not only decided to take back their offer of refunding us but then decided to call us not once but TWICE to make sure that we got the message (with aggression) is enough for me to never spend a single penny here ever again. And from another review Iāve seen, it seems this place will do anything except give you your money back. RUDE AND SHADY!
EDIT: i'm writing this here, because there's no option to respond to the response below. Yes, my boyfriend yelled cursed once before hanging up because your manager DID say that they were not going to refund us and she was very rude and aggressive about it! I assure you, he wouldn't react that way had that not been what was said and the way it was said! Just because your delivery is utilized by Doordash, doesn't mean that information needs to be delivered in the way we received it. Her customer service needs some real work. So, because you can fit all the food in one bag apparently and this proves that Doordash stole my food, is this really how you treat customers who have just had their food stolen? By having your manager be rude to us about it? My boyfriend and I would never get to this point if we were just spoken to with an ounce of respect from her. She spoke to us as if we were the one's stealing the food! This amount of gaslighting from a restaurant is crazy. Don't worry, we will be reaching out to Doordash at this point because being kind and helpful was too much to expect from your manager. I wasn't originally sweating over $15, but after all that, it's now about the principle. Good luck keeping staff around with a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe sought this restaurant out for lunch because I had read a good review of it's food. It's this little unassuming storefront in a strip mall on a busy street. Once you get through the door though, you realize it is so much more than just a quick stop for food. We were greeted by a hostess, she asked about food allergies (which is a concern for one of us in our party of three) and answered all of our questions. We had a preference for sitting in one of their half booths and we were accommodated. The waitress was friendly and informative. She recommended the Honey Garlic Sauce, two of us selected the boneless Chicken and we both went with the Honey Garlic Sauce. We also each added a side of white rice. Our other companion selected the Chicken Fried Rice which came topped with a sunny side up egg. Each meal came with a little complementary cup of pickled radish as a palate cleanser. I wanted Ice Tea but they only had the tea that comes through a soft drink machine, not really ice tea in my opinion, so I went with ice water. My companions selected sodas. The food is cooked fresh so the wait is about 20 mins. It came to the table hot and steamy. The chicken was tender, juicy, crunchy and tasty. I did appreciate the rice with it to make it a meal. We both ordered the small basket which is eight pieces of chicken and they were substantial. Plenty for the average appetite. However, they do have larger baskets for those that want more. Two of us in our party are well informed in matters of food safety and we were both very impressed with the cleanliness of this place. The wait staff wore uniform T-shirts and they all wore black rubber gloves. You just know with that kind of attention to detail that their kitchen is probably spotless. Ours meals averaged between $20 to $25 per person including tip. Overall, they deserve 5 stars across the board. They are much more than you expect and you are pleasantly surprised at every turn. Someone should be promoting this place so everyone knows where to find it. It wouldn't be a real review if I didn't have a wish list for this place. I wish they had real brewed ice tea. A great glass of ice tea just puts the sparkle on a good meal. I would've liked a chicken sampler option so we could've tried a few different sauces. Finally, they have those hand held card processors to pay the bill and I'm not a fan of those. Settling up at the table in front of friends feels kinda intrusive to me, so, I paid in cash, which I recommend if you don't like those things either. Yeah, I hope this place gets some traction and people come out to explore their Korean bb.q. they will be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreValentine's Day dinner at bb.q chicken presented an array of experiences, reflecting the restaurant's newness. Upon perusing the three Yelp reviews available for this Omaha location, I encountered a spectrum of opinions. Mike L's lunchtime visit left him thoroughly satisfied, while Brent L painted a contrasting picture. My own impressions fall somewhere in between. As of right now, I'd give it a 3.5 but there isn't an option for that. Undoubtedly, the restaurant is grappling with some initial challenges. Service, in particular, felt agonizingly slow. Despite a bustling dining room, manned by three servers dashing to and from, the pace left much to be desired. The burden of managing dine-in, to-go, and phone-in orders during peak hours seemed overwhelming. With no insight into the bustling kitchen, it's difficult to gauge the scale of the operation. Thankfully, we were swiftly ushered to our seats and managed to place our order expediently. Our selection included the delectable Ddeokbokki, cheese sticks, and a generous portion of Galbi wings. The Ddeokbokki, arriving first, was a delight - perfectly spiced, leaving me reaching for more even after the last bite. The cheese sticks, albeit tardy to the table, paired wonderfully with the residual sauce, though the accompanying ketchup felt somewhat uninspired. Unfortunately, the journey of our meal was not without hiccups. Our wings were initially misdelivered to another table, a mishap I observed firsthand. I feel like that's a big no-no for restaurants. I don't want people breathing on my food, especially people I don't know. This incident underscored the need for improved table numbering and a more streamlined order management system. Multiple servers redundantly took our orders, revealing systemic inefficiencies that warrant attention. Moreover, a shortage of napkins further underscored the restaurant's need to fine-tune its operational logistics. With only two napkins provided for two people, I resorted to seeking additional supplies from the restroom when I went to go wash my hands. In essence, bb.q chicken exhibits promise, but it's evident that adjustments are needed to ensure a smoother dining experience for patrons. From refining service protocols to bolstering supply logistics, addressing these challenges will undoubtedly elevate the restaurant's appeal in the competitive Omaha dining scene. Also a plus, they were playing one of my favorite Kdramas in the background (Crash Landing on You), which shows the many scenes of the main cast...
