"Treated Poorly for Other Customer's Behavior"
A group of co-workers and I went to The Tipsy Pig to try out the bar because none of us have been here before. I was a little depressed from the day but my spirits were slightly lifted to be out with my co-workers. We moved three high tables together to sit our large group of 7 to 11 people. I was impressed with the look of the bar with the glow of the lights and splash of color. The menu was fun.
The night started with us ordering drinks. It did take them a while to get my order but I understand we were a bigger group with people still entering. I order a mule from the happy hour menu and showed my ID. Turns out, I was the first person to be ID at the table but I just do it to be polite so the bartender does not feel awkward for asking.
One of my co-workers in his mid-thirties did not have his ID so he was not being served. He had a photo of his ID on his phone because he lost it a couple of weeks ago and he's waiting for his new passport. He was ordering at the bar while the rest of us were by the high tables. He was upset that the younger females from our group did not get ID but he was being requested to show his. He attempted to ask again for a drink but when he was turned down, he left.
I felt bad for my co-worker because I understood the bar stance requesting ID before being served but we know it was not being fairly applied at our table. I thought that would be end of that incident and we could move on with the night but I was wrong.
The bartender walked up to our table to lecture all of us for several minutes about our co-workers "bad" behavior and somehow made it about us. Keep in mind the majority of our group was separate from all this drama so far. He made remarks that we have no right to any drink at the bar and we should check our privilege before asking. He called our co-worker request illegal. He asked for our sympathy for his position and wanted us to agree that he was completely right. That's not the response that he got from us.
Few of my co-workers were at the bar next to my other co-worker when he requested a drink and they stated the bartender had an attitude with his rude response. I was upset that I was being lecture about all this drama when I showed my ID without being asked. Why am I in trouble? No one else had issues with the bartender at this point except for the one who left. Few of my co-workers pointed out that they were not required to show their IDs. After hearing all this, he was silent and just walked outside leaving the bar unattended.
Our night was ruined and the only drink that I got tasted awful. I ordered a cucumber and mint mule and I could taste no mint. I was disappointed. Thankfully, a second server came in and took our bills for us but the damage was already done. I was nice to leave a tip of $4 for a horrible $6 drink but I know the rest of my co-workers were not going to be so generous.
In conclusion, the bartender handled this situation poorly and it did not help that my only drink was bad. I know there was other mules that I would have liked better but I did not get the chance. I did not need the bartender to lecture me about my rights vs privileges for drinking and I did not need him to complain about other customer's behavior even if they were my co-worker. It felt like a child was handling the situation and that's not what I am looking for in a bar.
I do plan on going back in 2020 and giving it a second chance but I am going to need some time to forget this experience and give management time to make some changes. Good news, my co-worker was able to get a drink a...
Read moreMy wife and I were hoping it was a classy place. We got dressed up to go out for a date night. It took a long time to get a waitress. Cocktails were missing ingredients that were on the list. Enough soda water and no sugar rim. Stuff like that. We left our drinks half drank. I ordered a pig collins and it tastes cheap no soda water and no sugar rim. Two of the 6 ingredients to the drink. It did have a black Cherry that was good. My wife ordered a Hugo spritz 75 it did not have any simple syrup. 10 dollar drinks we didnât finish. Atmosphere was sports bar and keno. Legally blonde movie playing that nobody was watching. Really stupid. Never again. Mens room had a broken toilet and door didnât lock. I got walked in on. Really disappointing place to go. Copacobana, west end, Alice and barnado blow this place out of the water. Donât...
