Finally tried this place because a lot of people recommended it to me. My boyfriend and I were super excited to try their “famous fried chicken” and wings so we decided to stop by for a quick bite before he had to work. Upon arriving, we were helped fairly quickly by one of the two staff members on duty. After perusing the menu we ordered our food and waited... and waited... and waited... and waited... and waited... It literally took 45 minutes for our food to come out, leaving us 10 minutes left to eat. At one point we considered cancelling the order and eating elsewhere, but the staff member assured us our meal was on its way. When our food finally came out, I bit into one of my wings it was COLD! If we weren’t in such a time crunch by the time our meal came, I would’ve asked them to remake it. Usually, I’m a very forgiving person when it comes to late and less than stellar food as well as slower service if an establishment is busy (since I have worked in restaurants and bars myself), but there were 3 people at the bar, a group of 5-6 outside, a group of about 8 at a larger table who were already eating when we sat down, and us two. The people at the bar (regulars I’m assuming) ordered after us and somehow got their food 25 minutes before we got ours. What’s more is that I ordered a Bloody Mary that was pretty spicy with jalapeño peppers in it (I did not ask for it to be spicy nor did the bartender warn me ahead of time of what was in it). Luckily I enjoy spicy things, but as someone who’s worked in restaurants I deem it common sense and a courtesy to tell a guest if something contains any sort of spiciness or at least ask if they want their stuff spicy. A part of me feels like it was intentional, and if not just negligent on his behalf. The worst part is that even though the staff were polite, they made no effort to check up on us the entire time we were there. We were the ones having to come up to the bar and ask for service. In terms of food; the wings and fried chicken were decent. Everything tasted like normal bar food. Nothing really stood out to me. I feel like the wings could have been really good if they weren’t served cold... Overall, it was a really disappointing experience and I probably won’t...
Read moreFood was good, but after the horribly long wait for even the appetizer to make it's way to us, I would have said dog food tasted good, we were starving by the time any of our food came. Never got refills on our drinks (waters included). It took over 15 minutes just to get our first drinks initially. Two tables left right after we came in, we were there for well over an hour and the tables still weren't cleaned. Several groups came in, looked at the dirty tables and walked back out. They lost customers because of this!! We finally took our child's drink to the bartender to get a refill. And no, it was not busy and there were several wait staff. We're usually pretty understanding, as all 3 of us in the family used to work in the industry, but this was completely unacceptable.
Also, the waitress was grouchy with us from the beginning, I could easily tell we weren't going to have a good night. At least the food was pretty good. In addition, we could hear a staff member in the kitchen coughing up a storm and sneezing a ton, also yelling cuss words afterward. Really hoping it wasn't a cook, but regardless, that's nasty. We cuss a lot, but we also don't have small children and we have manners and professionalism when on the job. Please do better, staff.
Edit: Everyone swore up and down that we should give them another try, that the aforementioned experience has to have been a one-off. Five months later, just the two of us went on a Tuesday evening. We waited over 40 minutes for fried chicken and a chicken sandwich, never got refills on our drinks, waited 15-20 minutes for boxes and the ticket. It wasn't that busy, there were multiple wait staff working, excuses have run dry. My original review stands. The food is good, the service is straight trash. No food is worth that. Sorry not sorry. We will not...
Read moreTough choice here because it simply depends on what you want in a meal...or a bar. I read online that they closed down for a bit for remodeling, but that's where the questions start. First, I strolled through a beer garden situated too close to the loud traffic of 60th street. Late 20s, mid 30s crowd packed like sardines around iron patio tables with a small path to the front door. Then you enter the "lounge" and you're met with those early 90s, high-backed bar stools, 4 seat tables and those black stackable, vinyl covered chairs. The tile floor around the inside is that late 70s small square tan that is usually reserved for the bathrooms. And the walls, most are just painted black. While I was there, the loud, preprogrammed music went from the Beastie Boys all the way to Marilyn Manson. I liken this place to a neighborhood bar in the late 80s that wanted to bring in more young, nightlife-type drinkers while still wanting to sell chicken dinners. Just kind of a weird atmosphere. The cheeseburgers, chicken and fries were excellent. The wait was too long as nobody else was eating in the establishment, but the waiter was all over our table making the wait feel much less than it was. If you want to go get some good chicken with a buddy and talk about a game, this maybe a place for you. I just wouldn't sit outside near the street or near the speakers inside. Do not take your family or significant other here for a date. Some of the talking and laughable comments at the bar, NOT for kids. Again,...
