Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Onawa

I really liked this dairy queen since I was a wee little girl. The place is always clean and the people are awesome. Yeah there is a wait for food but I don't mind the wait. It's not like I have anywhere to go that isn't all that important. But in reality, sometimes you gotta give a place a couple tries before leaving a bad review just after 1 visit. This dairy queen has been my go to ice cream place for all of my cookie dough blizzard. I won't go anywhere else for a cookie dough blizzard. Reason is because it's close by to me and they do an amazing job on the blizzard. Even if I ask if they could put a wee bit extra cookie dough in it they actually put more than I asked for so that is a HUGE HUGE HUGE BONUS to me. 😁 I understand that fast food is supposed to be fast but y'all's needs to be patient with getting y'all's food. Because I sees a lot of people complaining about the wait. So I'd suggest if you don't have to go anywhere important, then I'd recommend this place. (If your not in a big hurry that is. Because patient is the key to everything and if people don't have patience then how will they ever learn to have patience in life if they have children of there own? Or any Patience in life if they just hurry up in their lives. I always thought I'd you don't have patience then don't go out to restaurants or fast food places because you'll have to wait a bit for your food. Patience isn't all that hard to learn. It just takes 1 week to learn patience and it you can't learn patience with waiting for your food why do you even bother going grocery shopping in the first place if you HATE grocery shopping? Just saying 👀) But in reality this is actually good place to eat the employees are friendly and if you have a question don't be afraid to go up and ask where your food is, but don't be so demanding or else it'll make it look bad on yourself as a customer and they don't want to serve yous if you are rude. Every restaurant and fast food have EVERY RIGHT to not serve you if you are being disrespectful to the employees. So if you want to be treated the same way you treat other people then be positive about it and it'll work out in the end for everyone. Just keep in mind that patient is the key factor to everything in your life. The dairy queen slushies are super delicious 😋🤤 I love them but I can only afford 1 slushy if I can so it's either a blizzard or a slushy. I like slushies on a blistering hot hot hot days like during the heat wave is the best time for a slushy. During spring or fall is a good time for blizzards for myself. But everything is exactly how it has been since I was wee little and it hasn't changed at all. So keep up the good work dairy queen! I'm proud of you and everyone else who has worked here. I wish you guy's all the best in the future and you will see me more later on in the summer time and fall and all year long. I went there the other night to get supper for my husband and myself. I ordered two chicken strip dinners. (one 6 piece and one 4 piece) I also ordered a couple of other things. The order came to almost $30.00. When I got home, I did not have any gravy in with the chicken dinners. (as shown on the picture on the sign) This is not the first time this has happened, so this time I drove back out there (about 3 miles) and drove thru the drive thru. Told the person on the other end that I did not get any gravy with my meals. They said did you order it. I said no one asked me what kind of sauce I wanted with them but the picture shows that it comes with the meal. They told me to pull around to the window. When I got up there, the guy says, now whats the problem? (in not so friendly tone) So I told the story over again. He says did you ask for gravy? I again told him that no one had asked me what kind of sauce I wanted with my meals, but that the picture on the sign shows the meal with gravy. He says, you don't have to harass me, I just take the orders. If you have any complaints you need to go to the site on the computer and complain. I said I ordered two chicken strip dinners that show they have gravy with them on the sign and spent almost $30.00, I think I should be able to get gravy with them. He left and came back with one little container half full. I said I ordered two meals, I need two gravy. He said you know these aren't free, I am just giving you this to make you happy. If you want another one, you will have to pay for it. Again, I said I need two gravy for two meals. He left again and this time gave me two half filled containers.

By this time.....our meals were cold....I will have to be really hungry before I go...

My wife and I have given this Dairy Queen so many chances to improve, but every time we arrive in recent months, we are greeted sarcasm and rude employees. We went through the drive thru around 5:30 on Friday December 13, 2024. We arrived at the speaker and the female worker said welcome to Onawa dq, please hold on in a halfway sincere tone. When she was ready to take our order I ordered 2 6 piece chic strip baskets and was waiting for her to ask the usual questions of “what dipping sauces” and “what to drink”, but there was dead silence for a good 10 seconds and then she got snappy and asked what sauces we wanted. After getting through that, she then said “anything else”? In a very rude tone like hurry up. I ordered a large blizzard and then she was asked me if I was done in a very rude tone again. I said that was it. Our total was $37.92, but she said it in an obnoxious way. Thirtyyyy sevvvveeeen ninnneeety twoooooo. Then upon arrival to the window, she takes my wife’s card and says thank you - like I’ll take that you idiots. She gives us the card back and then proceeds to be in a hurry to hand us our drinks and blizzard but then as soon as she hands us our food bag, she slams the window shut. Not even a chance to ask any questions. We are very dissatisfied with this location and is frankly the worst DQ...
