We really missed Bombay Grill when they closed. It was one of our favorite restaurants in Auburn. We knew going in that The Fusion Rasoi was not going to be like Bombay at all. It wasn't, but that's not a bad thing!
I ordered veggie samosas to share and the paneer chilly wonton tacos. The wonton tacos were crazy good, I've never had anything like it. Creamy comforting sauce, refreshing slaw, crispy wonton shells. My partner ordered the chicken tikka panini and said it was the best sandwich he has ever had.
The serving sizes were huge, we had to take our leftovers home. I really appreciated the complimentary self-service ice water dispenser.
We were able to talk to the owner for a while while we were there, such a nice person and so passionate! Local businesses are important and this family deserves all the support.
One thing that I think could be improved upon is their plates. I know actual dishes would be a hassle, so I get why they went for paper plates. However, I think they'd be better served going for baskets/trays and disposable wax paper (think Insomnia or Moe's). Wax paper could even be branded. Just an idea!
This is a new take on Indian cuisine. It reminded me kind of what The Irritable Bao is doing with their Chinese fusion. It's new, it's refreshing, it's one of a kind! We will definitely be back and we are so excited to see what else they...
Read moreMy partner and I have been missing Bombay Grill ever since they were forced to close their doors last year. We were happy to hear that the same folks were opening a new restaurant near Tiger Town, but we were slightly concerned when we heard they would be serving fusion cuisine. We stopped in today to give them a try, and we have never been happier to have been so wrong!
The Fusion Rasoi highlights the most iconic elements of Indian cuisine with a curated selection of thoughtful, modernized dishes. Their streamlined menu consists of a few classic favorites as well as some unexpected combination dishes that really hit home for us. Though we were initially hesitant to embrace the change, we were pleasantly taken aback by how well the fusion approach lends to Indian cuisine.
We shared an order of veggie samosas, which came with two varieties of chutney. My partner ordered the paneer chilly wonton tacos with masala fries, and I ordered the chicken tikka panini, also with masala fries. She loved the tacos, and the panini was the best sandwich I've ever eaten. Meanwhile, the samosas and fries were crispy and delicious. The huge servings, cozy vibes, and self-service iced water dispenser were greatly appreciated.
We're excited that you guys are back in business, and we can't wait to see how you...
Read moreThe owners have been serving the Auburn/Opelika community for quite some time and I was so happy to find out this location was being ran by the same people who ran Bombay Grille! Authentic Indian cuisine with various options to choose from. I ordered the chicken korma - Indian spicy level (so good with intense building heat that I was looking for! Just be SURE you’re ready for it! Haha)
We also ordered the hummus with delicious crispy pita chips and to drink I had a freshly homemade mango lassi that was honestly the best mango lassi I have probably ever had!
I also really enjoyed the “fusion” aspect of the menu, as they offer tacos filled with various traditional dishes such as chicken shawarma! I’ve gotta try those next time! They are also running new specials every day!
If you are a fan of Indian cuisine, then this wonderful, friendly, and inviting crew is who you...
