Gourmet salads! In Opelousas!
Been in LA for almost a month, badly in need of a vegetable. Some divine combination of malnutrition and intuition made me turn around and go back in this tiny place, hoping for as much as a Caesar salad, opened the menu, blew my mind.
Got the awards-winning Grapes of Wrath with sweet and sour dressing. I’m a new man. Excellently blended flavors. Looks as good as it tastes. Worth the accolades.
Don’t get me wrong, the cuisine here has been a high point of the visit (second only to the people) but a man can’t live on meat pies, sausages in a doughnut, and crab cakes for breakfast alone. I’ll be working my way through this menu and taking some of this dressing (and local honey!) back...
