I have been driving past this place for 25 years and for the first time, my wife and I dined there today. Fortunately, I reserved the day prior so was able to get seated quickly. The service was impeccable, we were greeted quickly and received our appetizers extremely fast as well, this is where I have to say I underestimated the portion sizes big time! I ordered the boom boom shrimp (or whatever it was called) and the plate was full of massive shrimp with a breading that was fantastic. I did not have any of the gulash but my wife loved it. Our entrees were also massive and extremely tasty as well. We did not have any dessert but the plate our waitress showed us full of desserts looked fantastic.
Do not come here and think you will leave hungry, won't happen. My wife and I have appetites and we had to bring plastic containers full of food home. The food was of the highest quality and taste. My only gripe is the 4% credit card transaction fee but the food quality and quantity more than made up for it. We will...
Read moreThe web site says “reservations recommended” …. if it’s anywhere close to dinner time just go ahead and MAKE RESERVATIONS! Stopped in here around peak time on a Sunday night(~6:30) coming from The Shenandoah Ntl Park. They looked pretty slammed w people waiting to be seated (many who had reservations). After waiting 10 minutes for the lady who was infrequently at the desk to acknowledge our presence, I asked her if we needed reservations, and she asked for “how many”…us two. She said something non committal like “wait a minute”. But never took our name. So 30 minutes later, we were still in that limbo, with people coming in and a few being seated, but several more who presumably had reservations waiting even to be addressed. We gave up. They looked short of help… hostess taking phone to-go orders, putting fresh table cloths on the table and managing reservations and seating. I’m sure the food is good, maybe great. But the seating process tonight was messy and...
Read moreI had a truly disappointing experience at The Bavarian Chef. I had made a reservation to take my parents, who were visiting from out of town, and we were seated at the worst possible table in the restaurant — right next to a huge group of over 20 people speaking extremely loudly. There was barely any space to walk between our table and theirs.
We kindly asked to be moved, and although there were several open tables away from the noisy group, the only option offered was a very small table set for four people, even though we were six.
The waitress was extremely rude and seemed completely unprepared to handle customers — unless her goal was to drive them away. After such poor service and an overall unpleasant experience, we will definitely not be returning to...
