I ordered some jamaican beef patties, coco bread, oxtail and their sweet/sour chicken. I couldn't even get the full order because the restaurant didn't package the sweet/sour chicken. I called them for clarification and I was told, "UberEats said they'd send a driver out to pick up the missed entree." This is a flat out lie as far as I'm concerned - UberEats does NOT send another driver to pick up a missed part of the delivery. You either get a refund or credit; those are the only options.
The food itself is mediocre. The coco bread is so stale and hard that you could probably shatter a glass window with it. It's old and virtually inedible. I tried to bite through it and I struggled.
0/10. Just don't order it. It isn't fresh and they make no attempt to ensure that it stays fresh when it is prepared/delivered to them.
The jamaican beef patties are made with cheap ingredients. Their spice content is good for my Caribbean tongue, but everything else about it is mediocre. It doesn't have a ton of flavor. The bread is kind of gooey. I've never had gooey jamaican beef patties in my life, and my mother/grandmother made beef patties almost every weekend when I was growing up. So, the bread isn't properly cooked or cheap ingredients. Probably both.
3/10, only 3 because they actually are able to balance the spice well.
The oxtail combo is decent, but it's not great. The rice isn't properly seasoned and the oxtail could be cooked more thoroughly (e.g., it's still quite tough near the bone). Flavor is nothing to write home about. It has a "meat" flavor if that makes sense. It isn't real, authentic jamaican oxtail brown sauce flavor that's coming through. They do give large portions, so I do commend them for that. Not a lot of gravy, I should mention, so it's quite dry.
5/10. They gave a large portion which I do commend them for, but the food itself is bland if you want the truth. I'm surprised I'm saying that about a Caribbean restaurant, but it's true.
Overall, 1's across the board. Mediocre food, bad coordination and disappointing experience overall.
As an addendum, I should note they tried to rectify the situation with the sweet/sour chicken by asking for my address, but I declined as I'm not going to give it to a restaurant/stranger over the phone. I use UberEats delivery driver/system to do this. Moreover, I don't think they would've delivered to me or I'd probably have to wait God knows how long for it.
Besides, based on the food I tried, the sweet & sour chicken would've probably been...
Read moreOn separate occasions I ordered, Nice and Knuff Jamaican Cuisine, for lunch. This place is really, really damn good! I first ordered their Beef Livers w/ Peppers and Onions, & Dumplings for breakfast. It was a real treat. Obviously, liver is an acquired taste, but if you happen to like it, theirs was excellent! The next time I ordered I had tried their, Oxtail Dinner. It came with their, Rice and Beans, which I teamed up with their cabbage, with plantains. Absolutely delicious. The Oxtail meat was so soft and tender, but had a Nice chew to them, and the best part was that they had EXCELLENT flavor! The lady that took my order(s) at the front is so nice and attentive! The lady made sure my order(s) were correct, and helped with any concerns. I would greatly recommend, Nice and Knuff Jamaican Cuisine, and happens to be in the, City of Orange, area and looking for some delicious...
Read moreLast week Thursdays I ordered a meal and received 3 leg tips and a small piece of back. I used my hard earned money. I called and requested to speak with a manager and was told that he's not available. I left my name and number and one week later nothing. I called today and was strongly advised that he's busy and cannot talk. Black business owners and their staff have absolutely no regards for respect for customers. I strongly do recommend anyone to go to the place and expect good food and service for their monies worth. Do better!!! I...
