Ten West Diner — Restaurant in Orange

Let's start by saying that this restaurant is quite close to our home, so we go there for breakfast at least once a month. We've never been disappointed until this past Thursday, July 10th, 2025. I always order the same thing, senior breakfast. Two eggs, toast, and a side. It's always good but they rarely get my eggs right. That's okay, I'm not that picky. My BF always gets some sort of omelet. This time, he ordered the Southwestern omelet. When our food arrived, everything looked good and surprise! My eggs were cooked just the way I like them. Mike's omelet was another story. The bacon in the omelet tasted off. It had a very "gamey" taste. Either it was old, cooked on a dirty griddle, or made of mystery meat. It was awful. I kept expecting our waitress (didn't get her name) to come check on us so I could tell her it was bad...but she never once came back to the table. When she served our food, she plopped the check on the table and ran. Mike didn't eat the omelet. He had his grits, toast, and my toast and one egg. I got out some cash and put it on the table. She came and grabbed the cash. When she brought the change we told her about the bacon. She could see he didn't eat the omelet. She said, "Let me take that off your bill" and off she went. We didn't have a chance to say anything to her. We watched her tell the kitchen (no response from them) and then go to the cash register and try to figure out how to get us our money back. Approximately five minutes later, she came back, cash in hand, and basically threw the money at us. She never apologized, in fact she acted like the whole thing was our fault. We never asked for our money back, she just assumed. We just wanted them to know so the kitchen would fix it. Her attitude was awful. Had she bothered to check on us even ONCE during our meal, we could have avoided the situation. BTW, I always pay cash here because they charge you for using a credit card. Never...

When I drove up, I didn't know if they were still in business. It was a little after the lunch rush, but the open sign wasn't on, and the outside was not keep up with making me think the two vehicles in the parking lot were working on the building or something. I was really in need for a greasy diner, so I took a change and pulled on the door. It was open, and even had a couple eating, so I sat down. The food wasn't so great, but my server was very nice, and the coffee was fresh and hot! The food was a little on the expensive side for a diner, but you get enough food for two meals which would be great if the food was worth it! When I tell you this was the BEST food I hv ever had! The staff was very helpful with answering menu questions. I hd the ribeye dinner AND a to go hamburger steak dinner, hubbz had the catfish poboy, bouidin balls, fried pickles!!! Whn I say EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS,,,, IT WAS!!! I hd doubts bout my steak being under cooked since I like medium well, but it came out perfect! The staff took VERY good care of us!
