Whipped Sweets & Treats — Restaurant in Orangeburg

I used to love this place. Decided to order a cake. Specifically asked if it was all whipped icing and was told yes. Explained to the worker what I wanted. ONLY whipped, no sprinkles Makenzies 4!, a 1/4 sheet and also said I didn't get off until 615 and was told that wouldn't be an issue. So imagine my shock when I pull up at 630 after taking off work early and driving 20 minutes to find them closed! I needed my daughter's cake for 11am! Per Google they are open until 7. I called at 11 am. I was told there was a family emergency and they closed at exactly 6. I asked for a manager and none were there. I was heated. I had to take off work again to pick up and drop off at my daughter's school for snack time instead of her planned party at lunch. I get there to pick up . It's a round cake with cupcakes, some kind of sugar sheet crap ( Whick BTW YOU CAN TASTE ) and says Makenzies 4th not Makenzies 4. Also it's covered in not only sprinkles but hard candy pearls. It was nothing I wanted. Nothing I asked for. A huge disappointment!!!! When I began questioning things the response was "its not our fault" , "you already paid and we can't remake it so what do you want us to do" , and " That is whipped you can't even taste the sugar wrap". No one claimed to be the one who took my order. No one took responsibility. No one offered a penny discount and even went as far as saying they did me a favor by doing a round cake because I got more. Oh and the family emergency? The 2nd person I spoke to said they close everyday at six and my paper said I'd pick up at 6 and they left at 601 and couldn't wait. For the future if you cannot do what a consumer is requesting, call them. If I would have know day one you couldn't do a simple whipped cake I'd have saved $40 and bought the cupcakes! If I'd have know you closed at 6 and had not been told you closed at 7 I would have picked up the day prior. If you'd have told me it'd be a round cake I would have requested to cancel the order! I brought my daughter in alot ( weekly) because I wanted to support local but after this experience my family won't be returning. We threw the cake away. Day one was good but even wrapped it was dry and we couldn't get past the sugar sheet taste on day 2. My daughter didn't eat her cake because of the sprinkles, I ended up buying her cupcakes. This is my first time ordering from here and most definitely will be my last!!!!!!!! I prepaid for a my son’s Jordan theme birthday cake for his 14th birthday on January 27,2025 at 1:35pm. I specifically told the girl at the register If I was ok that I have my son’s cake ready on February 2, 2025 which is my son’s birthday at 12pm and she said it wouldn’t be a problem. So this morning I arrived to the location at 11:40am and seen one of the workers outside on the phone in her car. Me and my kids stood outside of the business for five minutes while she sat in the car. Instead of telling me that she was on her break or that they weren’t opened yet she let us stand there. So we went back and sat In the car for her to unlock the door 5 mins after we sat back down in the car. We got out and I told the worker which cake I came to pick up, she told me that my cake wasn’t ready yet and I asked for my cake to be ready by 12pm, and that the cake designer wasn’t coming in until after 12pm. And I specifically asked them to have it ready by 12pm and was told that it wouldn’t be a problem. If someone would have called me and told me that it wasn’t going to be ready by 12pm and that the designer wasn’t going to have my son’s cake ready, then I would’ve pushed my son’s party back to a later time today. I had to buy a store bought cake from Walmart and let them put his name and happy birthday on it because my son’s cake wasn’t ready after putting in the order a whole week in advance. My son didn’t enjoy his cake because he picked out his own cake which was the Jordan theme cake with the shoe on it. While having to go somewhere else for a cake, it made my son late to his own birthday party. Very frustrating and upsetting. I’ve read another review similar to what I experienced and tried to support black owned businesses, but I see it never goes as planned. I will never come back and support this...

On December 8th, 2023 I placed an order for a graduation cake that would be picked up on December 15th (Graduation Day). I had no issues with placing the order and even filled out the required paperwork. After completing I asked the cashier if the payment was required now. She responded, “No ma’am, you are able to pay the day you pick up your order. You can pick it up at 1:00pm but no time before then.” I thanked her for her help and left the store.

On December 15th around 1:00pm, I arrived at the store to pick up the cake and pay as I was instructed to. I was then told by a completely different staff member that orders are to be paid for the day before pick up. This information was never expressed to me as I was ready to pay for the order in advance.
