Where shall I start? Got there at almost 7pm with a party of only 6 (myself, my wife, our 3 daughters and my brother). 1st time ever coming and decided to try it since it was close to home. We were sat down within 5 minutes of coming through the door at a grill we requested when asked “booth or grill”. From there, we sat for an hour (literally) before anyone came to take our drink orders. By then we were ready to order with 3 girls getting antsy, so we placed our order. It took another 15 minutes to get our drinks, soup and salad. Chef came about another 10 minutes later. We got shorted 1 steak and when I told the chef, he told me he accidentally mixed it with one of our other dishes and “sorry” but we counted the steak while he cooked them and was clearly one short. No show was performed while cooking and our young girls were looking forward to that. Soup looked like dish water and had no taste. Ginger dressing was horrible. Rice, steak, shrimp and chicken all very bland with no flavor or taste to them. Yum yum sauce, worse I have ever ate and I’ve been to many Japanese steak houses. Sauce was bland as well with not much taste. Had the super crunchy tempura roll, VERY salty, that I had a hard time eating it. As I sit here right now, it is 9pm and just finished eating. Soooo not impressed, JUST got my 2nd refill on bad sweet tea and it is very hot in the restaurant. Waitress never checked on us the whole time we sat here until it was time for our check. I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN AND WILL GLADLY DRIVE THE DISTANCE TO COLUMBIA AND EAT AT MIYABI’S or YAMATO’S near Columbiana mall. If I could, I’d give it “0” stars but that option is not available. Don’t waste your time and/or money here. For anyone who says this restaurant has great food, clearly has never been to...
Read moreI visited this location recently, but I wasn’t satisfied with the quality. The server was very pleasant, but she seemed hurried — offering a to-go plate shortly after my order arrived. Maybe the hostess was rushing the server because single visitors are sometimes rushed to make room for couples, especially when dining at a regular table.
My issue was with the food, not the service. The evening prices are higher. There is no reason for the order to be cold when it arrives. The rice was hot but the meat was cold — as if it had been scraped from a plate that wasn’t picked up? That was my first and lasting impression! The soup was warm, but bordered on cold. Everything arrived very quickly so there was no reason for it to be cold or to feel like I was being served leftovers. Not at those prices. The temperature of the food and whether or not it has “settled” affects the taste. That is why day old food never tastes the same as freshly cooked food. Seriously, I really do think it was scraped from a to-go plate that...
Read moreFood was meh ... presentation was good, but food lacked, I'm not sure, flavor - the right flavor ... the ginger was overly colored, but had no ginger flavor. They had a good selection of menu items, but I was not "impressed" by any of the ones we got. The server seemed distracted and we had several incorrect items delivered to our table, which we ate (& didn't pay for), because of the size of our party (7), by the time the food hit the table & the server/person who brought it disappeared, we weren't sure what it was & if any of us had ordered that particular thing. The area was loud, with 3/4 of the tables sat ... we were not seated at a grill. Dimly lite, which was fine, but an additional table light would have been good to help identify the food?? We did not get any alcohol or desserts, so I can't speak to those. But the whole experience was the most 3 on a scale EVER. Not significantly bad, but not significantly great. Just meh, 3. Nice saltwater fish tank though & had a sushi bar...
