Hazel's Cafe — Restaurant in Oregon - Nashua Township

I was told this was a nice place but had a very negative experience. I walked in sat down and nothing! No one approached me, asked my order or even greeted my guest and I. After about 10 minutes I went to the counter and placed my order. The woman taking the order acted as if I was somehow inconveniencing her and never greeted me or acted like she cared. I noticed the women, that worked there, seemed to be miserable. I was there at about 1pm which is lunch time and the place was dead. Maybe some common courtesy might help their business. I am willing to give this place another try hoping it was just an off...

I've been coming to Hazel's for years. Food has been good. Owner is quite friendly. Then today we were waited on by an older lady who had absolutely no customer service. A concern about a hard bun was overblown. Lady got loud and demeaning. I felt like I was in a dive. Then I find out this rude lady was the owner's mother. I would strongly suggest that this hard working lovely girl discontinue having her mother work for her. Normally, I would give Hazel's a 5 star. Today rates a zero. Hence 4...

A crown jewel of Oregon, IL! Incredible house made quiche, muffins, breakfast bowls, vegan options, high quality coffees, superior service. Candace was superb and Covid regulations were well in place. As a kitchen manager and foodie, I was blown away by this cafe in Ogle County. I'd visit regularly if I didn't reside in the PNW, but I'll visit it whenever I'm in town. They deserve steady business and infinite community...
