Pete's Coney II — Restaurant in Orion Charter Township

The bad experience started as soon as we walked I to the door. Standing by the entrance, looking directly at the kitchen and popular server standing spot we waited. I looked all around for a "seat your self" or "please wait to be seated" sign, but found none. At least 4 young ladies stood together by the kitchen after delivering plates, avoiding eye contact with us and chatting amongst themselves. Then a fifth joined. To my right, a couple got up and paid their bill, to which we decided that we would seat ourselves since no one still had attended to ourselves in the 5min we had been waiting.

After a few minutes, a server came to clear the dirty plates, but failed to recognize our existence saying nothing. Another couple entered and took a seat in which a waitress quickly brought them menu's. Quite upset now, my date said "It's time to leave. This is rude." So I flagged down the waitress who just gave the other couple menus and told her how we were just rudely mistreated and that we were leaving. She said "oh...." And avoided eye contact, slowly slinking away as we gathered our things and I finished explaining my disgust with our experience.

As I left I told two more couples coming in "good luck getting service, we were ignored the entire time we were there, 15min and left out of disgust."

So, I don't know if it was the color of my skin, sound of my voice, choice of my clothes or just the rude culture but I will not return and will spread the word of this poor experience. Walked in holding my 1 year old daughter and my wife followed in about a minute later. Within that one minute, I saw at least 4 tables open and maybe 5 waitresses walking around. A few saw me plain as day and just ignored me. They walked by me multiple times without even saying hi. I didn't see any signs about whether or not to seat yourselves so I just waited there. My wife came in and we stood around for another 2 minutes or so while the waitresses walked around not saying a word to us. Finally a waitress mumbled to us across the room that we could sit in the corner booth. We did. She handed us our menus without saying hi or welcome or anything. She finally asked how we were doing after a long silence. I used the restroom for about 2 minutes and came back to the table to wait 10 minutes before the girl finally came back to ask us what we wanted to eat. I asked if they had a particular item and she said no. that did it for me. I said I didn't want anything and my wife chose to walk out. The other Pete's on Dixie in Clarkston is completely different in their service and care. At this Baldwin location, they have nothing but young teenage girls working who frankly don't know what they're doing or just don't care. If they actually acknowledged this customer's existence and treated us a little kinder, I would have been less reluctant to leave and ordered something else. But because of the disrespect I didn't want to spend a single dime and looked for any reason to leave. Go to the other Pete's. This one is too entitled...

This is one of those places that you come across and you put a checkmark in your brain to visit again, and we have now at least 5 times since our first visit a few months ago. Nice and clean restraunt and friendly staff. Food prices are surprisingly affordable and the quality of the food is top notch. One of the few places I can get actually good tasty bacon unlike many that are turning to using the junk microwavable thin plastic looking junk bacon. I always like to leave some constructive criticism on my stellar reviews because no one or no business is perfect including myself so I would say their ice cream parlor although a great idea the ice cream tasted stale and like it's been sitting in the deep freeze awhile. It prob has as I doubt right now their going thru it very fast. I'd shut that down when ice cream season is over as the ice cream wasn't good. And the hours (due to lack of help) could be better but I understand they need to find someone to work to get back to normal better hours so I won't fault them for that. If your looking for a clean cozy warm and welcoming place to eat any meal this should be on your list. No thrills but solid good quality food and service.
