Kellys Homemade Ice Cream College Park — Restaurant in Orlando

I came to the shop 7/21/24 around 5:30pm with my mom, boyfriend and son. My mom went up to get in line as we were getting my son out of the car. We got in line with her and once they were done serving the guest in front of us we approached the window. Immediately we were greeted with “I think that guy was in front of you” with a discerning tone. I explained to her that we are with her (pointing to my mom who was right beside us, who had been waiting in line, in front of the guy). She then looked at my mom and said oh, they’re with you? Like we weren’t standing with her talking the whole time in line. We told her yes. She then went on to say oh well I didn’t realize because he had been standing there a while. Not even acknowledging that her focus had been on the guy behind us the whole time who said nothing at all about us “skipping in line” because he knew that she had been in front of him. After that the energy and encouter felt very weird, awkward and off as if she didn’t care to serve us. Mind you, we are people of color and the energy we received from her felt as if it could be due to that simply because the whole situation was very unnecessary. After the encounter with her on top of the store being out of dairy free items we decided to no longer eat the shop and will not be returning. This whole encounter felt very uncomfortable and was completely unnecessary. The server was a young girl, with blue hair. If anyone cares to address this situation. Terrible Kelly’s experience. First: it’s not a real Kelly’s. It’s a trendy overpriced coffee shop that they put a single cooler into, with some Kelly’s flavors. Beware that there’s a good chance they won’t have the one you (or your kids) want. Second: we went there specifically to sit inside, out of the humidity, but were told AFTER we ordered that we couldn’t sit down because the “lobby closes at 4” - even though their hours don’t indicate that (they close at 9). Third: They don’t do the Kelly’s loyalty program. We came out specifically because we had earned a free single, and wanted to try a new place. The (missing) cherry on top: All of this replaced a great falafel place too....

On a cool Florida evening I had a craving for Kelly’s Homemade chocolate ice cream. I wasn’t disappointed. Great customer service. Great scoop size. Walk up window. Delicious deep chocolate flavored ice cream in a fresh crunchy waffle cone. What more...
