I was actually really excited to try this place- Nashville hot chicken in Nona? Sign me up!Unfortunately the food was a far cry from what is shown on the website menu. I ordered a chicken sandwich with cheese- medium hot. The tenders on the bun came absolutely plain, the cheese was also missing. There was zero heat to the chicken or the breading, it just tasted like plain Tyson chicken tenders that you buy in bulk at Costco. It came with a sauce on the side- I hoped maybe this would enhance the sandwich. I can only describe the sauce as tasting exactly like Thousand island dressing with maybe a tiny dash of hot sauce thrown in. Mostly just a mayonnaise-based taste. Again a far cry from any Nashville hot chicken I’ve ever had from the likes of Dave’s Hot Chicken or King of the Coop. We also ordered “seasoned tater tots” which came in a tiny bag- spoiler alert there was zero seasoning besides salt. We’re seeing a pattern here. My girlfriend stated the food tastes like something you would buy at a little league baseball concession stand. This sounds harsh, but at present this was accurate. $18 spent on this too. I would typically give at least a couple stars for the effort, but we tried to order the day before not realizing it was online-only. We were greeted on the phone with someone who seemed annoyed when we called to ask. We did order online the following day, and upon pickup were greeted with a cold stare with no words from two employees behind the front counter, one of which was eating the other tater tots cooked for our order. Just a blank stare while eating from one and a bark of “picking up?” From the other. No hello or anything. The place was nearly empty. I have a hard time believing that this franchise location is following the corporate prep guidelines for these meals. Again, what we got looks nothing like the Trailer Birds website.
