My wife and I have dined at this restaurant a few times in the past and it was good. But I must say that it has really gone down hill. I ordered Osso Buco over risotto. The meat was so tough I had to cut it. It must have been just boiled then roasted rather than slow cooked as it's supposed to be. The risotto was served with a red marinara sauce that had a tangy flavor (I couldn't believe Italians made this sauce!) and it was like a soup. The risotto itself wasn't served properly as it was being cooked like risotto should be. It must have been sitting in water since it was more like large puffed up barley kernals. The service? Okay, it's difficult finding people these days. However, we had to ask for everything basis from the server: fork, pepper, attention! We were never asked how things were or if we needed anything during the meal. Upon paying, they didn't ever return my credit card; I had to ask for that as well. If you could give this place zero stars I would. If you're from the northeast and New York/New Jersey especially, you know good italian food and dining. This is my first review of a restaurant ever, but I feel that I must warn the wary diner who is expecting an "adequate" meal. We would have gotten better food and service at Olive Garden for nearly half the price. They shamefully charged $40.00 for that Osso Buco! Shame on you L'angolo for...
Read moreI went there for the first time last evening with my boyfriend and another five people. The restaurant was very crowded. The server was mediocre. A few times took our order us more than once because she forgot. Also, in the middle of taking orders she would run away from the table to do something else. I know the restaurant was full and there weren’t a lot of servers there, but maybe they need to hire more people. I specifically asked if there is salmon was wildcard. The server didn’t know she said she would ask. She came back to the table and told me that yes it was wild card. It was NOT! I’ve had wild caught salmon out many times and my sister owns a restaurant so I know what it looks like not only was it not wild caught like I was told it was before I ordered it at $22, but it was over cooked and dry. Her server never came to the table to ask how anything was after she drop the food at the table. I only ate about a quarter of the fish because it was very dry and overcooked. To my shock, I was not asked number one if I wanted anything else, told that they would take it off of the check because I barely ate any of it, nor did they even offer a free dessert. I will not be going back to this...
Read moreOut of loyalty to Sal and Anna we followed them to their new restaurant when they left Osteria Rustica. (Which by the way is still excellent and far superior to any competitor around). As snowbirds, we probably eat at L'angolo 5 or 6 times during the winter. Last night one special was a 16oz. bone in veal chop. I ordered it and ,as advertised, it was very tender but as I told my wife the taste wasn't anything special at all. As a matter of fact his veal osso bucco is much more tasty and flavorful. We ate and received the bill which showed the veal special I had was $60. I checked with our server (Laurie) to ensure the accuracy. She confirmed it . We paid in shock and walked outside where I looked around to make sure I wasn't in NYC or Palm Beach by mistake. I had never asked for ( or been told) the price of "specials" at L'angolo but that won't happen again. If the quality of the food was at another level then ,maybe, I would revisit but if they feel they can charge prices like that without exceptional food they will lose more customers besides us in a...
