Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Ormond Beach

We were excited to have a Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Ormond, but due to rude manager it was an unpleasant experience. First off, I should say that this was first visit and the food was as expected (with the exception of one of our smoothies being made with too much ice and thus tasting a little watered down). As we approached the entrance and after we ate and exited, a man who I would assume is one of the owners or managers was sitting right outside the door on one of the restaurant chairs smoking the entire time. This is obviously off putting to many people and the irony it being within a few feet of the door to a "healthier" lunch restaurant is not lost. A sign on the front door said "mask required" but apparently wearing it only around his chin while taking our order is acceptable for the manager. The manager also incorrectly input our order after asking several times what we wanted and when I went back to the register to ask about purchasing the item that was not on the receipt he was rude to both me and the employee who was trying to help me. While we were eating there, the manager also proceed to become angry and yell at an employee for simply asking if he could take his lunch break (it was around 1:30pm there was only one customer in line). Incidentally, this employee was actually doing his job well and being very polite to customers the whole time we were there. I went in there today to order for pick up, and there was a young lady standing in the back with the head down while she was texting on her phone she didn’t even acknowledge me. Then the gentleman came from the back, walked past her and came to the counter. I still really wasn’t sure what I wanted so I told him just give me a few minutes he then walked away and told her that she needed to help me when I was ready she then continue looking at her phone then came out to the counter. Walked past me to go use the bathroom while she was on her phone. Knocked on the door and told the girl who was mopping the bathroom to hurry up and come out because she needs to use it. I guess the young lady didn’t move fast enough so then she knocked on the other bathroom and cursed and went in there, because I guess she was upset. The young lady who was in the bathroom cleaning it came up to the counter with the mop bucket, and then try to help me, but then she told the other gentleman that he needed to come help me because she was doing dishes I don’t know what’s going on in Nestor, but it has gone down as far as customer service. The young lady who was on the phone that walked past me to go to the bathroom her pants for sagging with her draws showing so I just decided to walk out it is no way I want anything to eat out of there while any of them while working. I don’t know what’s going on, but somebody needs to get that under control...

I have worked in customer service positions for over 15 years and this group of "staff" has got to the rudest young people I have experienced. They had the open sign off over an hour before closing. Have me and my fiance the rudest glares and never even bothered to say hello. After we got our food, they just glared at us like we were such a bother being in thier at all. Extremely uncomfortable vibes in this place from the staff I will never go back and I will make sure to spread the word to family and friends as I see from other reviews this is an ongoing problem that clearly has never been resolved. Your staff doesn't have a clue how to treat people with respect and especially not from a customer service standpoint. I left with such a negative feeling from these two young workers they should both be fired. I was in 08/06 around 745 pm. Won't ever be back! Ormond Beach AND tropical smoothie as a company deserves way better than what your staff has to offer - which is nothing but negative vibes and bad service! Hope this place closes and something better can be put in, so...
