I'm not typically one to leave negative reviews, and I have been a loyal customer of BDF for many years and never really had any complaints until recently. I've noticed the food quality has been inconsistent, I've had a few orders in the past couple months made with incorrect ingredients, but it was minor issues so I didn't say anything.
This last time, though, I went in on lunch break, it was very busy and a long wait for my sandwich, so by the time I received the order I had to head straight back to work.
By the time I got the chance to eat, I was very disappointed to find that the bread was toasted way too long, even charred in some areas, making it hard as a rock and inedible. I tried calling in the same day and the phone kept ringing, but nobody answered. I figured they're probably just busy and I'll try again later. Got off work late, they were closed, so I tried again the following day.
The phone was then given to another employee and I couldn't believe how rude and inconsiderate she was... I tried to explain the situation, and within a few seconds she cut me off and told me they'll remake my order only if I bring the sandwich back.
Now, if I was able to get ahold of someone the first day, this wouldn't have been an issue - however, by this point I had already tossed it not thinking anything of it because I don't live close to this particular location, could not leave work to go back in right away, and didn't plan on being in that area again for at least another 1-2 weeks. I informed her that I had taken pictures of the sandwich and kept the receipt, I've never heard of any place demanding you bring in a sandwich if it was going to be over a week old by the time you came in. She was very insistent that this was the only way, and if that's their policy I understand but there was no reason for this person to be so short and speak in such a bad tone towards me. At some point, she asked me something along the lines of "were you the one who ordered _??" (referencing an order that was clearly not mine) which indicates to me that I was not the only person who had this same issue at that time, and either they'd heard from this other customer or they were aware of the issue when it was made but served it to them anyway... I told her no, and again before I could say anything else, she cut me off to repeat the same thing she told me before, again, in a very rude and condescending tone.
Honestly, the minor mistakes and issues I've had over the last few months didn't bother me much, but for the price, I feel like your food should at least be edible (without the risk of breaking teeth in the process) and while I don't expect phenomenal customer service, I would hope that an employee would at least match the same level of respect and decency that they are receiving from a customer who had a poor experience. I have never complained before or asked for anything to be corrected because I know mistakes happen, especially when it's busy. But in this case, just by looking at the sandwich it was very obviously overdone, it didn't even look like french bread because it was so dark; this might also explain why my order seemed to take much longer than the orders taken at the time time or even after mine.
Long story short - I'm pretty disappointed with the overall experience at this restaurant, which saddens me after so many years of being a customer here. I don't think I'll be returning to...
Read moreBUYER BEWARE DON'T GO!!!!! Extremely hostile worker claims she is manager and if they make a mistake she doesn't care. I was forced to eat food I didn't want because this manager wouldn't make it right and told me "I CAN BUY A KNEW ONE AND YOU COULD HAVE READ IT RIGHT ON THE MENU!" WOW I would never allow an employee of mine to be so combative to a long time customer who simply asked for another sandwich because she refused to make the sandwich how I asked for it in the first place and would not refund me or even attempt to help make it right. Instead she wanted to argue. Then she and other employees stared at me talking about me while I ate the sandwich I didn't want but was hungry and didn't have time to go somewhere else. I have been going there since it opened and I don't even know how much money I have spent there, but never will I again. They charge way to much for low quality deli GMO packed meats very unhealthy low quality food that is masked by good sauces. Rest of the staff seemed to be doing all the work as the MANGER girl was on the phone not working and not helping any customers just displaying her ruff and rude behavior. Never tried to offer me a solution and I wasn't even that upset until she started telling me what I need to do and what I should have done and she doesn't care so If you wanna save money and be healthier go to the grocery store buy a whole pound of deli meat $5 thats not low quality like there and buy some baguettes for like $2 then get basics lettuce tomato $1 then a few items for there sauces which are basic $2 and for the outrageous money they charge almost $10 a sandwich you can make 6 or more sandwiches that dont come with the cheap poison they are giving you and most of all you dont have to deal with this misbehaved, combative, untrained, MANAGER (see attached pic notice even in the pic she is throwing her hands up barking at me telling me she doesn't have to give me her name) WoW SHE IS REALLY RUDE AND UNAPPEALING DON"T...
Read moreTo everyone from Berrien Springs, MI and in the Michiana area that frequent Baguette De France. I was excited to sit down and eat at the establishment of what once used to be a favorite spot of mine to enjoy in Berrien Springs. However, my excitement and enjoyment was short lived due to the nature of what transpired after my friend and I were finished eating and had leftovers of our baguette sandwiches...
Unbeknownst to my apparently uninformed self (because I don’t live in Berrien or Michiana area any longer) and my friend (who does live in the area), policies have changed regarding carry out containers. This would not have been so problematic had there been ANY inkling, indication, sign, or disclaimer, announcing that a formal change in policy had been instituted in regards to said containers.
WHAT IS THIS CHANGE YOU MIGHT ASK?
It has come to our attention that when you request to sit and eat at this establishment, that should you have leftovers you would like to take home, and would understandably like a nice sturdy box for your sandwich (because we all know it’s dripping with sauce and can be a bit messy), lo and behold, you will NOT receive a box. You will, instead, receive a paper bag that you can’t even stand up😠. However, should you order your food TO GO, but still end up deciding to eat your food inside, only then does one receive the elusive box.
So two questions... What the heck sense does this make? And how is a customer supposed to know HOW to order, BEFORE they order if they are not made aware of this NONSENSE to begin with?!😡. If you’re going to be completely arbitrary and random about how you conduct your business, at least have the decency to post a dang sign! 🤬.
Needless to say, you have lost two soggy sandwich laden...
