This place has its claws in me! This isn't just the best bakery at the lake, it's practically our second home. Cheesecake calls, and my wallet and I reluctantly answer. Every week it's like a sugary beacon calling to us. The staff (who are super sweet and friendly) always greet us with smiles and a rundown of the day's delicious dangers. My kids' eyes light up like they've won the lottery when they see the free samples of the day. Sometimes, Jim, one of the owners, will even swoop in like a dessert dispensing superhero and bestow a free cookie upon my offspring. I'm starting to suspect this is a brilliant marketing ploy to ensure our weekly pilgrimage, and honestly, it's working.
Now about the actual baked goods. If I could marry a dessert, it would be their strawberry roll crunch cheesecake. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's probably the best thing to ever grace my taste buds. I'm pretty sure angels sing when I take a bite. The banana pudding is also a dangerous addiction, and don't even get me started on the blueberry lemon cheesecake cake. But the real MVP is the cheesecake stuffed chocolate chip cookies. I am pretty sure they are proof that someone out there loves us and wants us to be happy...... and fat.
Every weekend they roll out new temptations, which is both a blessing and a curse. My waist is protesting but my taste buds are doing a happy dance. So if you're looking for a bakery that's so good it'll make you question all your life choices in the best way possible, you've found it. ...
Read moreBest Key Lime Pie Cheesecake ever made!
We were on a vacation with friends exploring the Lake of The Ozarks and picked up a few cheesecakes to bring back to our Air BNB for our dessert after grilling out.
I have had cheesecakes from all over from florida to California, etc; been to many specialty cheesecake/bakery stores and restaurants. I have searched far and wide for the best Key Lime Pie as well.
The Key Lime Cheesecake we had from Wicked Sugar has gone down in history as the best combination of cheesecake and key lime pie I have ever had and same for our friends.
This shop is small, ran by very few and just trying to make a stamp for the local community as an alternative options to the other options in their area. Homemade goodness at its best. A location I hope to see expand quickly!
Will travel again next year from Virginia Beach, VA for a trip to the Ozarks but not without having another Key Lime Cheesecake from Wicked Sugar. My rating for their entire business is an 11/10. They deserve to be in the local news and I hope they win awards for their tasty treats.
We tried a few other varieties that hit just as well. Very unique business with wonderful people. Highly...
Read moreUpdate: When I put this review in, they had less than 30 reviews on Sunday morning. Magically, with no chance that someone has been in the "store" just 8 hours later, they are now over 100x5 star reviews (they aren't open on Sundays so these aren't real). They are paying a service for good reviews. Save me the mom and pop shop sob story. I will be reporting you because you know the only reason we went to this shop was because of the review score. SCAM!!!!!
I had high hopes for this shop after reading the reviews. While their cheesecake is certainly better than something you'd grab at Walmart, it's not good. At $9 per small piece of cake, definitely NOT WORTH IT. We had 2 different pieces and both of them were pretty plain, dry cheesecake without a lot of flavor. There's also no where to eat here if you wanted to stay. It looks like they have someone make the cheesecake somewhere else and they bring it here to package (which means it could be sitting there for a while before we get it). It did not taste fresh. By comparison, Costco cheesecake and really anywhere that bakes their own onsite is miles ahead of this place. I would skip this...
