I will start with the good, the vibe and atmosphere was nice. The custard was outstanding. But the good could not overcome the bad.
We stopped for sandwiches, the menu states gourmet sandwiches which sets a level of expectation. Gourmet is characterized by a high level of refined and elaborate food preparation.
I got the Ham and Cheese panni it was nothing but a plain old grilled ham and cheese sandwich I would expect on a children's menu at a local dinner for $4. The cheese wasn't completely melted, the ham was still cold in the middle. When you say gourmet I'm thinking a nice sour dough, maybe a homemade sauce, tomato, grilled onion and interesting cheese selection. I could truly do better with a George Foreman grill at home for a quarter the cost. Also no pickle like in the pictures. The potato salad wasn't even as good as Dawn's potato salad you would get at any grocery store deli.
My wife had the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich she said it was okay I didn't try it so I can't comment. The cheese and broccoli soup was awful. It was turning brown as if it had been reheated repeatedly. It was not hot, mildly warm at best. It was truly inedible, one bite was enough to know not to eat anymore. I did try it and it was cold and not good.
For me the best part of the dinner was the parmesan potato chips from Great Lakes Potato Company and the...
Read moreLove this place for custard. I have had two or three of their food products, and I will say their food is not good. The custard, however, is amazing, and i highly recommend it. They have flavors of the day each day, and those can be fun to cause you can have them in a cone. They offer waffle cones. Good environment. Although they do have a place to eat outside and it days no dogs. I think that's a little unreasonable. It's an ice cream joint. If you sit outside, you should be allowed to have your pet(coming from someone who doesn't even have a pet) lastly I've been coming here for years and the workers have changed like every place. But I'm very happy they got rid of the lady manager with the kid who would get dropped off after school. I felt that was very unprofessional. One time, the lady left me in the middle of my order to get her son something. You're at work, not a SAHM. very glad I haven't seen her...
Read moreWe love Rhapsodies, but they don't always hit the mark. We've only gotten soup there one time and it was just so-so and we never felt compelled to try it again. The flavors of the day for custard are often lacking. I saw a picture of the recent one with butterscotch and pecans and it made me really crave butterscotch so we stopped to pick up a couple sundaes. Unfortunately there was hardly any butterscotch in my custard. It was basically just vanilla with some pecans. Not worth the price. Not the first time I've been disappointed with the flavor of the day tasting not nearly as good as it looked online. They have one with Bavarian cream that sounded amazing but again severely lacked any actual Bavarian cream. I think I've learned my lesson and will just order a custom sundae from now on and pass on the flavor...
